Two feet to create force. One leg to receive it. React off the ground. Finish on two. The single-leg contact is the point of the drill. I want the athlete to absorb force, hold their position, and redirect that force into the next jump with a short amortization phase, the time between landing and taking off. The goal isnโ€™t just to get off the ground fast. Itโ€™s to get off the ground fast without losing control. In season, a few high-quality reps let us keep training that ability to absorb and produce force while managing fatigue. When the contact gets slow or the landing breaks down, weโ€™re done. Force absorption before production. Intent over intensity. #nextlevel360 #coach #performance #football #highschool ๐ŸŽฅ @purely_productions

Sprinting is one of the highest-force, highest-velocity things we ask the human body to do. That matters. At high speeds, the nervous system has to recruit muscle quickly, the foot has to interact with the ground in fractions of a second, and the hamstrings, calves, tendons and connective tissues have to manage significant forces. Thatโ€™s why I look at sprinting as more than โ€œspeed work.โ€ Itโ€™s an exposure the body needs to stay familiar with. In-season programming is always a balancing act between stimulus, fatigue and recovery. The goal isnโ€™t to see how much work an athlete can survive..itโ€™s to provide enough of the right stimulus to maintain the qualities competition demands without interfering with performance. Dose matters. Timing matters. Recovery matters. After years of coaching, Iโ€™ve learned that sometimes the most effective programming isnโ€™t adding more. Itโ€™s knowing what you canโ€™t afford to remove. Speed is one of those things. #Nextlevel360 #performance #coach #football #highschool
