POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday marked TWENTY FIVE YEARS since our second release, the Copeland / Pacifico Split EP, came out!

We were approached by the label Theory 8 Records about doing a split EP with some band we had never heard of. We agreed and got to record with Matt Goldman again who produced our first EP, Still On Hold. We recorded in the glow in the dark studio in Little Five Points. We recorded two new songs, and Goldman made a different mix of a previous song. We wrote about love, faith, and wondering if I were enough. The artwork was done by James Likeness.

Here’s the tracklisting and the liner notes:
Copeland
That Awful Memory Of Yours
May I Have This Dance
Second Star To The Left, Go Until Dawn

Pacifico
It’s Just You
I Just Want To Dream
Multiply (Single Edit)

Produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by: Matt Goldman at Glow In The Dark Atlanta, GA (Summer of 2001)

Design and layout by: James Likeness

Pacifico is:
Matthew Schwartz: Vocals, Guitar, Keys
Ben White: Bass, Vocals
Joel Walker: Drums, Percussion
Matt Goldman: Percussion

What do you think of this Split EP?
What’s your favorite song and why?

Do you have any photos, videos, and/or audio of us from this time? If so, please send it our way! We would love to see, share, and tag you!

You can listen to and get the songs we recorded, as well as get all our other music and merch on our bandcamp:

Copeland - In Motion. The early 2000s are very nostalgic for me as it was when I first began listening to music more intentionally. During that era, there were so many bands I totally slept on as a kid but find myself discovering and re-discovering years later! One band in particular I’ve recently been listening to is an Alternative Rock band from Florida called Copeland. A staple of the early 2000s wave of Emo, this band is one of those under-the-radar kinds of bands that influenced so many musicians friends who grew up in that era. A few weeks ago driving through Indiana with the band, my dude Jett shared a song from the band’s second record, In Motion, that hooked me pretty quickly!

After first listen, feelings of nostalgia from that era came rushing in! Packed with a dynamic sound that’s anthemic and aggressive in some parts and then more delicate and atmospheric that really get you in the feels. Driving a major part of this record, Aaron Marsh and Bryan Laurenson’s guitars work with piercing catchy hooks and a little distortion and a few effects make up an essential part of the record’s sound as Jonathan Bucklew’s drumming matches the energy of each moment both big and small as James Likeness’s bass lines help keep the low end rock solid so Marsh’s falsetto-like vocals drive the emotions each song stirring the listeners feels singing of love and longing!

Favorite tuned include No One Really Wins, Choose The One Who Loves You More, Pin Your Wings, Sleep, Don’t Slow Down, Love is a Fast Song and You Love To Sing! The epitome of an early 2000s guitar band’s sound, Copeland has managed to create a of cult classic record that at face value may not be super flashy but nonetheless a masterpiece in it’s own right that helped pave the way for many bands today and inspire a generation of musicians and fans alike!

Today's song of the day is "Colorless" by Copeland!

You can just ask @churchjamsnow, my favorite albums from bands usually tend to be the least popular in their discographies. Copeland's Blushing will always be my favorite of theirs, I just love the songwriting so much!

Copeland in PA.. the mood this night was just everyone trying to push the blues and it still being clearly miserable & I hate that for everyone - this has been such an incredibly hard year for myself and the close ones I love.

It’s been unusually quiet since the cat dad lost his voice. Maybe the universe decided it was finally time for the cats to have the last meowowow.

There ain’t no calling or talking—just peaceful moments with my little companions. Funny how silence makes you appreciate the smallest things: the gentle purrs, the curious stares, and the tiny warm embrace that make a house feel like home. 🏡
