It is unique and it nose it! Today's marine creature is the unicorn fish 🦄🐠 As you can probably guess, they are named for the bony horn on their faces.

The magazine @wired (UK) has just published a story I shot in the Maldives earlier this year about deep diver & fish specialist Luiz Rocha and his team. Seeing him at work at depth was an incredible sight. A diving encyclopedia. No wonder why he is now a Laureate ofnthe Rolex Awards for Entreprise.

Covering 5.7 million square kilometers (2,200,000 sq mi) of ocean waters, the Coral Triangle is a marine area located in the western Pacific Ocean. It spans across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, and the Solomon Islands.

Known as the “Amazon of the seas”, this region nurtures 76% of all coral species in the world (605 out of 798), houses 7 of the world’s marine turtle species, and contains an awe-inspiring array of 6000 species of fish.

Apart from exhibiting such biodiversity, this region acts as a cushion against natural calamities and is a global economic hub supporting the livelihood of 120 million people. However, unplanned urban development, overfishing, pollution, and unsustainable tourism are eroding this natural ecosystem.
