I received a lil’ pink digital camera in 2013, visiting my family in the U.S 🇺🇸 …thirteen years later it makes a return!

From then to now, and everything in between… it has felt special to explore new places, dance & perform alongside @ausballet in a transformative production. Making memories and capturing moments on the way.

Grateful for all of it💚

Gravity, physics tells us and the body shows, is a physical force which draws us “towards one another and shapes the way we move through the world,” and whether it is something to “resist, surrender to, suspend or redefine,”[i] it is a necessary condition of us. Gravity is the theme of this year’s Bodytorque program, featuring the choreography by Timothy Coleman, Serena Graham, Lilla Harvey, Mason Lovegrove, Pol Andrés Thió, and Maxim Zenin, led once more by The Australian Ballet’s resident choreographer Stephanie Lake. Whether making their Bodytorque debut, like Harvey, Zenin, and Australian Ballet School graduate and internationally-based choreographer, Thió, or further flexing their creative muscles, like Coleman, Graham, and Lovegrove, who have created works for earlier Bodytorque iterations, the program remains a unique and supportive “opportunity to test ideas, create a new short work, and, importantly, put it in front of an audience.”[ii]

Bodytorque. @ausballet choreographic workshop.

Congratulations to all the creators. No underestimating the vulnerability of creating work from scratch. Thank you to the entire team and crew for making this possible. Such a worthy effort to nurture new ideas. 📸 : @klongersklongers

Tonight, Bodytorque: Gravity takes to the stage in Melbourne, bringing six bold new works to life.

This incredible program offers choreographers the opportunity to experiment, collaborate and develop new work for the stage.

Featuring works by @timcdance, @serenagrahamm, @lilla.harvey , @mason.lovegrove, @maxyzen and @polandresthio, each brings their own creative perspective to this year’s theme of Gravity.

Chookas to our choreographers, dancers and everyone who has worked behind the scenes to bring these new works to life.
