SOLD 🔴 | This is my second year doing @cityofink ’s anniversary show. The shows typically have a theme and I try to create a piece that fits.

This year’s theme is “Unity.” I chose to draw Fred Hampton and include one of my favorite quotes from him , because to me it really embodies what unity looks like in practice.

Last year’s theme was “Revelations,” and I created Revelation 6:4 , the red horse described in the Book of Revelation.

Cancellations and reschedules are frustrating, but I try to utilize it. A cleared schedule isn’t wasted time it’s a shift. If I’m not tattooing, I’m painting, sketching, or building the next idea. Creativity for the day doesn’t stop, it just moves to another canvas.

My favorite part of this year has been witnessing how people show up for my art outside of tattooing. I’ve been blessed to be part of 6 shows so far, sold originals and prints, and even had two clients get tattoos of pieces I displayed in galleries. Big shoutout to them 🙏🏾

Whether it’s buying merch, grabbing a sticker, collecting art, booking a tattoo, or even just showing love through a follow, like, or shoutout, I mean this sincerely when I say I’m grateful!

Drove in from Mississippi to get tattooed here in Atlanta. We started Friday afternoon, and by Saturday night he left with a full outer sleeve and a cover-up. We’ll be finishing the inside next month , check back to see how we bring it all together.

Long way to go, but ain’t nothing wrong with being proud of the progress
(This is just the undercoat)

This is the largest painting I’ve ever approached (60x40)
.
It’s also just a nice break from tattooing being my main creative outlet
.
I love both but
with tattooing a good percentage of the time it’s only about what the client wants to do.
With solo projects it’s about what I feel like creating at the moment.

I was going write a long caption explaining this piece because I knew the painting would have the right imagery to be misinterpreted. Anyway I’m just going to site my references for those that are interested enough will look into it.

It’s a modern interpretation of
-Caravaggio’s “The Taking of Christ”
-The Bible’s “The kiss of Juda”
- The pipeline of corporate greed, enforcement, and misdirection
.
The opportunity for you to form your own take on this piece is there , you can ignore the sites completely. I just hope it’s enjoyed and received well.
