5,000 makeup artists.

I don’t know exactly what getting to 5,000 looks like yet. But I know what I want it to mean.

For more than 20 years, I’ve made a living doing this. I’ve worked with thousands of brides, built a team, worked commercial sets, worked with major brands, made plenty of mistakes, figured out how to make this career actually work—and then built Business of Makeup® to share what I learned with other artists.

And I’m not done.

I want to take everything I’ve learned and make it accessible to more artists who are serious about building a real career in this industry.

That’s what BOM® is about.

And honestly, that’s why I made the ARTIST shirt, too.

Because I think there’s something powerful about being proud to call yourself an artist—and building a career that makes that identity sustainable.

So 5,000 is the number.

5,000 artists who are better at their craft.
5,000 artists who understand the business.
5,000 artists who make good money doing work they’re proud of.
5,000 artists who are still here 10, 20 years from now.

That feels like a goal worth working toward.

Catching up on some work from earlier this year. A fun one shooting the stills campaign alongside a Benz commercial directed by @peter__thwaites & DP @papa2 - I’m often reminded of Ali’s quote “Don’t count the days, make the days count.”
The time I have to get the shot is barely enough at the best of times & usually [almost always] ‘we’ are behind & those shooting windows start evaporating, yet the shot still has to count.

Before the bid. Before the flight. Before the rainbows. My brain was ALREADY on set. West coast said “welcome” with freak rainstorms and last-minute chaos — classic. I jumped on my flight to Cali not knowing “when” it was even going to happen…then before I could even land, @smithxunion & @momentumww pulled off a miracle, the skies literally parted like we had a reservation, and rainbows showed up on cue. ONE day. That’s all we got. We came in with a massive plan, a ton of hope, and left with gold on a hard drive. The high lasted weeks. The dangerous kind. The “I need to do that again immediately” kind.

Cool girls have cool jobs. ✈️✨

One week I’m packing a suitcase for a shoot across the world. The next I’m working out of a hotel room, backstage, or somewhere I never imagined this career would take me.

The beautiful photos are just the bonus. It’s the incredible people, the creative collaborations, and the places this job has brought me that I’ll never take for granted.

Turns out saying yes to a creative career can take you pretty far. 🌎🤍

Moment vs. the photo ✨

In real life: wind in her hair, sun on her skin, laughing while playing with a single flower.

This is why I’ll always love swim shoots — it’s about capturing the energy and then refining it just enough so the magic translates through the lens.
