Uris Library is one of the oldest library building on Cornell University campus. Designed by William Henry Miller—Cornell’s first architecture student—and completed in 1891, it’s a beautiful example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, with heavy stone walls, deep arches, and a tower that looks out over Libe Slope.

What I love most about Uris is the contrast between the exterior and interior. From the outside, it feels solid and almost fortress-like. Inside, the A.D. White Library opens up into a dramatic three-story reading room filled with iron balconies, spiral staircases, and intricate details that draw your eye upward.

See you out there.

We take pride in our collection of Cornelliana found throughout The Club. Of particular note is a copy of Military Records of Cornell University in the World War. Published following World War I, the book offers a poignant look back at the Cornellians who served and honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Still on campus? Consider stopping by the exhibit “Public Health on the Hill: Creating Community through Communication,” curated by Jeffrey Ho, @cornellcas Class of ‘26 and graduating Humanities Scholars Program student.

The exhibit, housed in the Michael T. Sillerman ’68 Rotunda of Kroch Library, showcases materials from Cornell University Library’s Rare and Manuscript Collections (RMC). Open to the public Monday-Friday, 9 am - 5 pm, the exhibit will be on display until June 10th, 2026.

This exhibit was Ho’s capstone project for HSP and is the first exhibit to be curated by an undergraduate student using materials from RMC and shown in Kroch Library.

To learn more about Ho’s project and the process of curating this exhibit, click the link in our bio to read the article “Student exhibit explores public health history at Cornell.” Photos and article by Jose Beduya, Cornell University Library.
