🇿🇦 We say goodbye to Cornel with one last run. 🏃‍♂️

What started as an online coaching relationship with a guy from South Africa who came over to England quickly became something much more than that. He became a client, a fellow brother, a true friend and a running partner.

Coaching you has inspired me to get back into running properly myself. We pushed each other, chased goals together, celebrated your 5K PB, and even took on a half marathon together — my first one! 🏃‍♂️🔥

What a pleasure it’s been to coach you, run alongside you, and have you as part of our company and our brotherhood. I’m genuinely grateful for every moment.

Wishing you the very best as you head back home and then onto New Zealand for your next chapter and to play again. May God be with you every step of the way and keep you safe on your travels.

This isn’t goodbye forever — we’ll always stay in touch. ❤️

Thank you, my friend. Until the next run. 🇿🇦🤝🇬🇧🇳🇿

5KG DOWN. PERFORMANCE THROUGH THE ROOF. 📈

When he came to me for online coaching, the goal wasn’t simply to lose weight.

As an international cricketer, we wanted him leaner, fitter and performing better — without sacrificing the strength or energy he needs for his sport.

And that’s exactly what we’ve done.

5kg down.
Strength maintained.
Energy high.
Performance improving.
And he’s even hit his best 5K time of the year running with our community. 🏃‍♂️

What’s impressed me most though is how much he’s bought into everything.

Consistent with his online coaching, shows up 100% to the sessions and has absolutely thrived being part of the community.

It’s been a pleasure coaching an athlete operating at this level and watching him smash every part of the process.

I’m definitely going to miss one of the best running partners I’ve found when he heads back home 🇿🇦😂

But I suppose that just gives me an excuse to get myself over to South Africa for a few runs 😜

This is what coaching should be about — not just getting lighter, but becoming a better-performing athlete in the process.

If you want to improve your physique without sacrificing your performance, drop me a message.

Weekly dump.

Coffee tastes the best after a run.
Noodles didn’t feel like content.
First track day.
We still lift heavy.
Once you’re in you can never leave this cult life.
Started with these again.
A 6k where we said we wanted 6.30km pace…ok
Longest run on record for me…there’s more

OLD BOYS NEWS | CORNE NEL (OB 2021)

Congratulations to Corne Nel, who enjoyed an outstanding North East Cricket Series in the UK, representing NUSC against the British Army.

Corne made a strong contribution both on and off the field during the competitive charity series, which also raised funds for The Headlight Project.

His sportsmanship, character and willingness to go above and beyond for a teammate saw him receive the prestigious Brian O’Rourke Award, presented only in exceptional circumstances in recognition of outstanding character.

Corne credited his parents and the grounding he received at DHS for shaping the values behind the achievement.

A wonderful reflection of the character and values of a DHS Old Boy.

Congratulations, Corne.

Side quest complete. ✅🏅

A week before this race I entered a 10K on a whim.

No running plan. No event experience. Just a challenge to prove something to myself.

At 39, coming from a natural bodybuilding background, I wanted to show that fitness isn’t just about looking good—it’s about what your body can actually do. Strength, endurance, health and longevity all matter.

I dropped a message to a few of my clients to see who fancied joining me… and they all turned up. 👊

We said we’d be happy with anything under 60 minutes.

52:25 later… job done. 💥

This is exactly why I’m embracing hybrid training. Resistance training will always be my foundation, but adding running and endurance work has opened up a whole new side of fitness. It’s made training exciting again and proved that you don’t have to choose between building muscle and building performance.

Now… imagine what happens with a proper running block.

Roll on the next one. 🏃‍♂️🔥
