I knew this night would be special, but I wasn’t prepared for how emotional it would feel to be surrounded by so much love. 🖤

Looking around our grand opening and seeing family, friends, customers, and community showing up for The Black Candle Company was overwhelming in the most beautiful way. Every hug, every kind word, and every “I’m proud of you” touched a place in my heart that I can’t quite put into words.

So much goes into building a dream that people never see. That night, I felt seen. I felt supported. And I felt reminded that I’m not doing this alone.

Thank you for celebrating this new chapter with us. I’m still taking it all in, and I’ll carry that love with me forever. ✨

A Youth-Led Project for the whole community. The Ubuntu Summit is led by young people who live, work, and study in the 37208 code, gathered together to lead the entire community to stay accountable to our commitments to personal, social, and structural change. Ubuntu means that we cannot separate ourselves from each other (by generation, by race, by zip code, by commitments) if we want to be free.

As part of the North Nashville Culture Crawl, featuring exhibits, food vendors, and performances all along Jefferson Street, this exhibit and experience is located in Kossie Park for one night only. Make sure to also stop by Woodcuts, Akebu-lan, and more!

This Black Mythology Experience is made possible by North Nashville Arts Coalition, Black Mental Health Village, The 37208 Fund, Resource Generation Nashville, and Cxfeeblack. Thank you also to the generosity of Black Flower Mosaic, Color the Future, Black Mental Health Village, and MNPS for working with and supporting our young people in their journeys for transformational change.

THROWBACK THURSDAY | FOREVER FITT

You have to respect how it started so you can truly appreciate where it’s going.

In 2022, God gave the vision, but at the time, there wasn’t much clarity.

During my time at @cornertocorner , I had no idea that a simple table with a few sports bras and leggings would eventually grow into a full mobile athleisure pop-up store.

Now here we are 4 years later, and the vision is becoming clearer and clearer.

The biggest takeaway from this journey:
When God gives you the vision and tells you to MOVE, you don’t have to understand everything. You just have to listen and GO! 🙏🏾

We are still taking the time to relive our moments with so many great people at this past weekends “Steps Of Success 5K” Event ⭐️

It was so much to take in, with it being our first year at the annual event, but rest assured each person we spoke to and each hand we shook, definitely made the experience worth it.

A man of faith, and a volunteer at the event, we took some time to talk with our good friend and brother Bradley. He lets us in on the testimony of how God brought him out of a 2 year severe depression, and you guys know how we are with mental health. 🙏🏽

Bradley encourages everyone out there that there is no one like THE One. The One that sits high, looks low, and as we used to sing as children … has the whole world in His hands. ✝️

We thank Bradley, and for a final time, a major thanks to @demetriusshort @mr.dontfallshort & everyone that took part in the Steps Of Success 5K Event.

Felt out of shape this year so we stayed behind the mic 😂 next year we will definitely be participating! ✌🏽

If you missed it this year, be sure to be a part of it next year. We truly enjoyed our time last weekend at the “Steps Of Success 5K” Event ⭐️ taking time to talk to the various participants and see what mental health and the event means to them.

Such an exciting moment to have ran into our COUSINS ‼️Shakela & Dejai take the time to not only knock out the run, but they gave us some great advice behind how to best deal with suicide. Dejai gave a profound statement telling our audience that it is important to seek godly relationships within the community. It is few and far between to find those who are truly trying to walk upright, but Dejai says that having that foundation is the key to battling those tough thoughts. Shakela reminds us that the time is now … so whatever you want to do, do it and do it with urgency and purpose. Cause who’s to say you’ll have the time to do tomorrow, what you could have done today.

Once again, major shoutout to @mr.dontfallshort @demetriusshort for having us be a part of the event, “running” around to get guests for our BMVT “✌🏽” Minute Interviews.

Teaching this class made me realize something.

I taught marketing at Corner to Corner this week, and somewhere in the middle of it I had a moment like… dang.

I’ve learned a lot over the years.

Just maybe not in the way you’d expect.

Recovery is a journey of restoration, and no family should have to walk it alone. During the holidays, the pressure to provide can be especially difficult for parents in recovery.
