You’d wish someone had told you this before the end of your NYSC service year 📌👀💯👇
1. Time flies, so make the best use of the 1 year.👇
2. During your NYSC, Network, freelance, gather experiences & connections. 📌
3. ”Volunteer & create opportunities, before opportunities present themselves.👇
4. Figure out ‘life after NYSC’ before it ends, do you want to continue in your PPA?, start a business?, graduate trainee program?, internships? et.c..start sending out applications 6 months before your service year ends.‼️
5. Use your Alawee & payments in NYSC to either start a business?, learn a trade, apply for & fund your masters? or to apply for a scholarship?.👇
6. Be of value, be it at your PPA or workplace. Make your efforts visible & presence felt, so not easily dismissed at the end (if you want to be retained or not).👇
7. You can get a recommendation or reference letter (for applications or scholarships), from your PPA/ workplace, especially if you did your job excellently. 👈💯
8. Enroll in an online course & finish it during the remaining months of your NYSC. 💯
9. Apply for that remote internship, volunteer for that organization you love & put in the work!. 💯
10. Update your CV, work/leadership experiences, CDS roles, volunteer roles et.Cetera, before the end of your NYSC.👇
11. Have a good digital/Online footprint, don’t go around insulting people on comment sections & watch the things you post.👇
12. A Corper must have a LinkedIn page. Create one if you don’t have, employers & work connections take notes. 👀👇
13. Budget & plan ‘what’s next after NYSC’ before alawee ends. Want to move states? or remain where posted?.👇
14. In Final Clearance, ensure your monthly clearance forms are all signed by your LGI and your PPA head before the end of NYSC.👇
15. In CDS Clearance, ensure you clear your dues, attendance records, and your CDS project roles with your CDS group president & coordinator. 👉

Don’t finish your service year without knowing this key information 📌👀❓👇
1. 1 year might look like a long time but in the blink of an eye, it’s over and you have to face “what’s next after NYSC”. 👇
2. Use your service year to network & gain experiences. Freelance if you have to, but place yourself in fields you see yourself in after NYSC, so you don’t start from ground 0, after NYSC.📌
3. “Volunteer”, don’t wait for opportunities to create themselves, create the opportunity. Cause ‘life after NYSC’, is a whole new experience. 🧐👇
4. Use the last few months to figure out “what’s after NYSC”❓, want to be retained in your PPA?, start a business?, want to apply for graduate trainee programs/internships?, get a new job in a “?…start sending out applications 4 or more months before the end of your service year.‼️
5. Your Allawee & PPA payment is a stepping stone 📌 (especially if it’s your only source of income)…think, do you want to start a business?..start learning the business! & use the money saved as capital after NYSC. Want to further your education? or apply for a scholarship?, use the money saved to start the process!. Want to get retained at your PPA, be valuable, make your efforts known & presence felt so not easily dismissed. You can also ask for recommendation/ reference letter from your PPA if you did excellently. 👈💯
6. Starting?/almost rounding up your service year?/ or done?..enroll for that online course! & use the NYSC months left to complete the course!, apply for that remote internship, volunteer for that organization you have been eyeing and put in the work!, your future self will thank you. 💯
7. Update your CV, add your work/leadership experiences, CDS roles, volunteer roles et. Cetera, to your CV for after NYSC. Also have a good digital/ online footprint. Not having a LinkedIn page is very risky, create one, cause employers or work connections will be looking and may be judging based on this. 👀👇
Point 8. 9. 10 in the comment below📌👇

You’d wish someone told you this, even after Graduating with a First Class Degree 📌❓👀👇

1. A First class degree usually opens doors for you. You could walk into a room with a ‘first class degree’ and you the attention at first, but your Skills/Soft skills & experience, not just grades is what keeps the door(s) open to you. 📌🚪
2. A First class degree shows your discipline, consistency, tenacity and intellect (as seen through your ability to surpass difficult situations & finish with a 🥇Class). But even with a first class 📜, you require extra work, extra discipline, and commitment to make it in life.
3. A First Class degree isn’t a guarantee to a successful life. I have seen first class degree holders struggle in life, not having a job or any stream of income. And some who didn’t go to school/ dropped out of school becoming successful. As a First class graduate, to be truely successful after school, you need to have relevant skills, in addition to your intellect (your IQ as an advantage to understand easily). 💯📈
4. As a First class graduate, having the ability to market yourself, your knowledge & putting them to good use (not just being intelligent on paper 📑), is what truly makes you a successful individual.
5. As a First class graduate, your network is your Net-worth. Have an initiative, Collaborate and build something that creates a lasting change and improvement in the lives of people. 💯
Even if you have a First class 🥇🎓, you still have to prove yourself, your skills and abilities. 💯

Bonus: A First-Class degree boosts your chances and helps you stand out for jobs, scholarships, graduate trainee programs and postgraduate opportunities, but your experience and network matters too.

Also: JAPA or not, you can still make it in life, make an impact and be relevant wherever you are, Nigeria or abroad. 💯

P.S: From a 2X First🥇 Class Graduate🎓✌️. ✍️ @official_victoria.Itohan, You’re wlc. 🤗

5 Things No One Tells you as a Graduate 📌❓👀👇

1. Degree is important, but skills are more important. In the world of work, your skills are often what gets you into/ announces you in rooms of opportunities. If you claim to have just a First class degree or Second class upper and you don’t have relevant skills, experience or volunteer experience, the world of work (or even owning your own business) may not favor you.
>>From a 2X First class graduate 🥇🎓✌️
2. Your final year in university is what you use to figure out the field you want to go into after graduation. Otherwise, use the few months after graduation to really think deep on the field you want to go into (especially before going for NYSC).
3. No one goes through life by just leaving it to chance or doing nothing. Like the saying ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail’. If you want to succeed after graduation, make plans, be strategic and stick with your plans. 💯
4. Health they say is wealth. If you aren’t in good health, you can’t really do anything. In as much as you want to succeed and make yourself proud, take time to rest, eat well and take care of your body, mind and spirit.
5. Things won’t be handed over to you like a teenager, you need to work. You are an adult in charge of your own life, decisions and failure/success. The world doesn’t celebrate mediocrity, so get to work!.

Bonus: You don’t have to wait to be handed a pay check. If you have a vision, build it 💯 or collaborate in building something that would solve a problem or create lasting change in society.
Also, you don’t have to JAPA to make it in life, be relevant or to make an impact, you can do it wherever you are, Nigeria or abroad. 💯

Don’t skip this Information if you wish to go to NYSC CAMP 📌❓👀💯👇

👉Necessary documents 💯 (Call up letter, NYSC Green slip, NIN slip, statement of result or certificate, school ID card or photo card, passport photograph with white background, medical fitness or medical report if necessary & medical licenses for medical graduates). 📌 Check my previous post for details.

👉If you registered for NYSC and you’re yet to see your call up number, don’t panic. It may take weeks to months for some, depending on when NYSC mobilizes a person. ⁉️

👉For those staying in camp, you need 2-3 round neck white T-shirts, 2-3 white shorts, 2-3 socks or more, cause you’ll be wearing it everyday! and white rubber sneakers (1 or 2 sneakers is okay, not more).

👉Don’t forget your bedsheets (trust me you won’t like to sleep on the plain bed), take mosquito net, bathroom slippers, power banks and extra charger just incase.

👉Go along with padlocks, torchlight and preferred toiletries (Body soap, sponge, body lotion, sunscreen, toothbrush and paste, towel, washing soap and sponge, hypo, brush for shoe) et.c.

👉You will be needing a file jacket to store all document, books to jot during lectures/ SAED lectures, stapler & pin to staple your photocopied documents during registration.

👉You will be needing cash to get food, bag of water et.c. Also, you need Fanny pack/waist pouch to store your ATM, cash, toiletries for ladies and so on.

👉NYSC will be giving you NYSC crested vest, khaki trouser and jacket, NYSC belt, jungle boots, 2 white T-shirt, 2 white short, 2 white NYSC socks, white NYSC canvas (so you don’t need to outsource your Khaki trouser and jackets before going to camp, except where necessary). 📌

P.S: I answered some recurring questions in my previous posts, check it out. 💯
