Brave doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like walking into the room. Starting the conversation. Sharing your story. Using your voice. Cheering for someone else. Choosing yourself. At THRIVE, we were surrounded by women doing brave things in big and small ways… showing up, being seen, opening their hearts, and saying yes to more. Maybe those butterflies you’ve been feeling isn’t fear. Maybe they’re a sign it’s time to fly. 🦋 What’s one brave thing you’re ready to do? P.S. Thank you @zacbrownband @dollyparton for this beautiful song -and for the reminder that we can all become a butterfly anytime we want 🙏🩷🦋

Why is it sometimes hardest to communicate with the person we love the most? You want to have an honest conversation. Your partner hears criticism. Suddenly, what started as an attempt to connect feels like an attack. Sound familiar? At THRIVE South Bay, Ashley Rodriguez sat down with communication expert Brian Galke and asked a question so many couples struggle with: How do we have difficult conversations without making each other feel attacked? And that’s just one part of their conversation. They also explore whether we change how we communicate depending on whether we’re interacting with men or women. 🎥 Watch their full six-minute fireside conversation on our Carbon World Health YouTube channel! 🔗 Link in bio. 💬 What’s one thing you’ve learned about having difficult conversations in a relationship? #Relationships #CommunicationSkills #ThriveSouthBay #BeyondTheStage #CarbonWorldHealth

“Menopause literally broke my spine.” My reaction says it all. 😳 @corrymatthews is a former professional bodybuilder with nearly 30 years of experience in fitness, nutrition and sports medicine. A woman who knows the human body inside out. Yet her own perimenopause journey led to an osteoporosis diagnosis, serious spinal problems and surgery. What really struck me was what Corry said about the women who have reached out to her since she started sharing her story. Women experiencing back pain, questioning their symptoms and wondering whether they should just put up with it. We need to stop normalising women simply putting up with pain. Not every ache or back problem is caused by menopause, but declining oestrogen can accelerate bone loss, and osteoporosis can develop without obvious symptoms until a fracture occurs. This is why conversations like these matter. 🎙️ Watch my full conversation with Corry Matthews on The Pressing Play Podcast, available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Because midlife is about so much more than managing symptoms. It’s about protecting our health and everything we still want to do. #Perimenopause #Menopause #WomensHealth #ThePressingPlayPodcast

Imagine creating something people still FEEL centuries later. You walk into the Sistine Chapel, look up, and it takes your breath away. Michelangelo’s work is still reaching people. That’s performance magic. Craft is where you learn your instrument. You practice. You build the skills. Artistry is where YOU come through. Your story. Your experiences. Everything you’ve lived. Then somebody feels it. Gets goosebumps. Sees something in themselves because you had the courage to share something in you. That’s the freaking goal. I want you to get so comfortable with your craft that your soul and spirit can come out and say hello. You have something worth sharing. Let us feel it. Who’s a performer who gave you goosebumps you STILL remember? Tell me below. #PublicSpeaking #Storytelling #StagePresence #FindYourVoice #voicebymatt

I’m not training for a stage. I’m training for my next 50 years.”💪 Oh my goodness, what a conversation! This week on The Pressing Play Podcast, I’m joined all the way from LA by the incredible @corrymatthews Corry spent nearly 30 years working in fitness, nutrition and sports medicine. She was a professional bodybuilder. She knew the human body inside out. Then she hit 40, perimenopause arrived, and suddenly everything she thought she knew about her own body was being challenged. We talked about changing bodies, confidence, hormones, nutrition, strength training and what happens when the things you’ve always done stop working. But we also talked about something much bigger. How do you find your strength again when life throws something enormous at you? How do you advocate for yourself when you know something isn’t right? And what happens when you start thinking about the next 50 years of your life instead of everything you think you’re losing? Corry is why I started The Pressing Play Podcast. Her determination, honesty and absolute refusal to give up reminded me why I started this podcast in the first place. Because we have so much life still to live. And I want more women to believe that too. 🎧 Pressing Play on Perimenopause & Finding Your Strength Again with Corry Matthews is out now on The Pressing Play Podcast and you can also watch on YouTube. Comment Corry and I will send you the links. #ThePressingPlayPodcast #Perimenopause #Menopause #WomenOver40 #MidlifeHealth

The best part of speaking isn’t the stage. It’s the dancing silly in the hallway before I go on. It’s the hug after, when I get to look a woman in the eyes and say “I see you.” Joy isn’t something you find when everything is perfect. It’s the choice you make in the middle of the hard. It’s the light that shows up when you refuse to quit. And it’s the gift you get to pass on, woman to woman, heart to heart. That joy is what makes the grit sustainable. It’s what turns a moment into a movement. Save this for the next time you need the reminder. Huge thanks to @jen_mentesana and @corrymatthews for the opportunity to speak at the @thrive.southbay event and meet so many incredible people! And if you want more of this kind of real, joyful courage, come sit with me here. 💛 @amberlylagomotivation #JoyIsAChoice #GritAndGrace #WomenWhoSpeak #Unstoppable

I told my dad, “I love you so much.” He didn’t say anything back. Eventually I asked him, “Dad, do you know that you don’t say I love you?” His answer? “Matt, I didn’t even know I didn’t say that.” We learn how to communicate from the people around us. Sometimes we carry those patterns for years without realizing it. As a choir teacher, I told my students, “I love you. I believe in you. You can do this.” Those words matter in our homes, too. Your voice gives the people you love a chance to hear what’s in your heart. If you love them, tell them. If you believe in them, say it. Who needs to hear those words from you today? #VoiceByMatt #FindYourVoice #Connection #voice #leadership
