What do you give your best friend for her 40th when you want it to mean more than just a gift? 🤍

I decided to make her birthday candle completely from scratch — but I hid the most important part underneath the wax.

Her mom passed away in 2018 and her sister sent me a piece of her actual handwriting. So I turned it into something she could hold onto forever and she could still be part of this huge milestone in her life.

I poured and sanded the Jesmonite vessel by hand, engraved her mom’s handwriting inside, and then placed/ melted the candle directly over it.

As she burns her birthday candle, the hidden message from her mom will be revealed. 🥹

Watching her reaction and reading her texts afterward reminded me exactly why I started making things like this.

Because sometimes the smallest piece of someone can become the most meaningful keepsake.

A candle ends. The Stori doesn’t. 🤍
