📒 We’re more than thrilled to announce that we’ve welcomed Ryan Hemsworth (@heemsworth) to the Topshelf roster! A truly inimitable artist and collaborator, it’s been such a joy working alongside him to release his new record 𝘕𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘴𝘬𝘶𝘭𝘭, out on October 21. You can listen to two songs today! Having worked with the likes of @sandyalexg, @tinashenow, @mitskileaks and countless others over a 15-year span, Ryan has developed an uncanny ear for talent while simultaneously honing his craft as a shapeshifting producer comfortable in any genre setting. Although known for his prolific output and seemingly endless collaborations, 𝘕𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘴𝘬𝘶𝘭𝘭 is his first solo album since 2018’s 𝘌𝘭𝘴𝘦𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.

On 𝘕𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘴𝘬𝘶𝘭𝘭, Ryan squares a tangled mix of influences ranging from shoegaze to lo-fi to metal, all squeezed through the lens of his globe-trotting pop background. He started some of these songs as early as 2020, after having his son. Through COVID and becoming a parent, his production became pretty introverted again— working on a lot of ideas and scrapping them repeatedly. Drawn to heavier, rougher sounds during a difficult period of his life, this exploration felt cathartic. He embraces these distorted influences on the blown-out lead single “One Step”, a blaring foundation for the boisterous vocal performance delivered by Sarah Tudzin (@tudznsudz) of Illuminati Hotties (@ih.rips).

The rough illustrations on the cover and throughout the album’s artwork are scanned drawings by Ryan around 6 years old. The album is a collage of new and old ideas made through a reflection on his early teens and childhood. Deconstruction is such an important part of making and experiencing art— we’ve long admired Ryan’s ability to piece together, resample and envision something entirely fresh and whole in his music.

This was a cool surprise to see some of the work we have done on Marvel Tokon made it on to comic covers! Our team contributed a lot of line art, treatments, and graphics to the characters you see here. Big team effort with @helen.divas and @jackflakes on the art. AD'd by @hami, @coryschmitz, and ArcSys.

From this batch, I contributed to the team cover, Ghost Rider, and Magik while lending my eyes to the rest.

Happy @marveltokon release day! After years under wraps, the full UI/UX designs can finally be revealed.

The work has been an absolute labour of love by every single person on this project over the span of years. I hope it’s clearly obvious that I poured my heart into each screen and also the HUD.

I can’t have asked for a more talented or supportive team at across all groups whilst working on this. My heart feels incredibly full and I can’t thank you all enough.

Well done Creative Arts team, we did it!
