Albania for mountain lovers 🇦🇱

Albania is so much more than pretty beaches. Yes, the coast is stunning, but some of the country's real magic lies further inland, in dramatic canyons, ancient castles and remote mountain villages.

If you love hiking, history and getting a little off the beaten path, here's how I'd spend one or two weeks exploring Albania.

📍 BERAT | 1 day
Hike up to Berat Castle via St. Michael's Church, then get lost in the cobblestone alleys of Mangalem and Gorica, the city's UNESCO listed quarters. Hungry? Stop at Gimis House Hotel & Restaurant for homemade Albanian food, or escape into the lush garden at Lorenc Secret Garden Restaurant.

📍 OSUMI CANYON | 1 day
Go river rafting through the dramatic Grand Canyon of Albania, then spend the night at Guest House Bracaj, perched right above the canyon. The views alone are worth the aching arms.

📍 KRUJË | 1 day
Explore Krujë Castle and the Skanderbeg Museum, wander through the centuries old Old Bazaar and step into everyday Albanian life at the Ethnographic Museum. Finish the day with dinner and mountain views at Restorant Bardhi.

📍 TIRANA | 2 days
Join a free city tour, climb the Pyramid of Tirana and explore a city where old meets new and chaos somehow feels charming. Keep an eye out for street art and end the day with cocktails at @radiobartirana.

📍 THETH | 2 days
This is where Albania really stole my heart. The famous little church, the Blue Eye, waterfalls and a swim in the river, all surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Albanian Alps.

Add the Peaks of the Balkans Trail, a 5 to 10 day trek through Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo, starting in Theth. I did the 5 day guided version with @thebalkantrail_ and will always remember those days spent with @couchflucht hiking through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Balkans, in very good company.

Bike & Hike auf 22 km entlang der Küste von Stevns Klint 🚲🥾🌊

Die zweite Wanderung in Dänemark, die schon lange auf meiner Bucket-List steht: Der Trampesti. Eine Streckenwanderung zwischen Bøgeskov Havn und Rødvig.

Natürlich stellt sich mir als erstes die Frage: Wie komme ich zum Startpunkt? Aber das ist ganz einfach: In den Sommermonaten fährt ein kostenloser Shuttle (Elektrobus) von Rødvig aus zu verschiedenen Einstiegspunkten der Wanderung. 🚌 Du kannst also genau dort starten, wo es für dich am meisten Sinn macht.

Ich bin bis Bøgeskov Havn gefahren und habe mir dort ein Fahrrad geliehen. Entlang der Strecke gibt es nämlich mehrere Stationen von Donkey Republic. 🚲 Über die App, schnappst dir eines der orangefarbenen Bikes, radelst durch die wunderschöne Landschaft und stellst es an einer der nächsten Station wieder ab und wanderst den Rest des Trampesti.

Ich radle durch kleine Dörfer, vorbei an Hofständen und Reetdachhäusern in Holtug und schnüre am Stevns Naturcenter wieder die Wanderschuhe. 🥾

Ab dort wird’s dann auch richtig spektakulär: Klippenpfad, Leuchtturm und die ikonische Kirche von Højerup direkt an der Abbruchkante.
Bis nach Rødvig führt der Weg immer an den Klippen entlang, ab und an sogar mit tierischer Begleitung 🐑

Mein Tipp: Nicht vergessen auch mal zurück zu blicken, sonst entgeht dir der ein oder andere gigantische Ausblick.

Für mich war es genau die richtige Mischung und bestimmt nicht mein letztes Bike & Hike Abenteuer.

Wenn ich wieder gefragt werde: Anne ist alleine wandern nicht doof?

Safe nicht! Ich genieße die Zeit mit mir und mit meinen Gedanken. Einfach mal alles sortieren und überdenken! Es gibt nichts schöneres für mich als in der Natur das Chaos in meinem Kopf zu sortieren.

Heißt nicht, ich mag keine Begleitung, aber ich bin auch gerne alleine und solo unterwegs!

Wie geht’s euch? Team Solo oder Team nur in der Gruppe draußen?

Hiking, wild nature, warm summer days & the best kind of company?
Say hello to the Balkan Trail 🏔️

Over 5 days, you hike in small groups along the most beautiful sections of the Peaks of the Balkan Trail - crossing Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. Expect epic views, untouched landscapes and that feeling of being completely off the grid (in the best way).

Who else is ready for the beginning of hiking season after the worst bit of winter is hopefully over? In fact, we’ve even officially said goodbye to winter by spending the weekend in Ireland where spring has officially started on February 1st. 🌱☘️🌼

Kurtuba Camii, 8. yüzyılda Endülüs Emevîleri tarafından inşa edilmiştir. İslam mimarisinin en önemli eserlerinden biri olan yapı, kırmızı-beyaz at nalı kemerleri ve yüzlerce sütunu ile dikkat çeker. 1236 yılında Córdoba’nın Hristiyanlar tarafından alınmasından sonra cami, katedrale dönüştürülmüştür. Roma ve özellikle Endülüs Emevileri döneminde büyük bir kültür ve bilim merkezi olmuştur. En ünlü yapısı, İslam mimarisinin başyapıtlarından biri olan Mezquita (Kurtuba Camii)’dir. Alcázar’ın temelleri 8. yüzyılda, Endülüs Emevileri döneminde atıldı.
İlk olarak İslam mimarisiyle inşa edilen yapı, Reconquista sonrası kilise ve kraliyet sarayına dönüştürüldü.
