HELLO! Huge apologies for the silence from us there… life got in the way, and we wanted to pop back with an update 🫶 I started Rankd when I moved back over to Brighton in 2022, and it has sparked conversations some incredible people from the local music scene - I feel incredibly lucky to have had conversations with bands that have really taken off recently (I’m looking at you @goodbye.band, @the_clubheads, @believeinnothing_noise , @couldbeghostsband and @m.woodroe 👀). I’m proud to have interviewed, captured and written alongside a fantastic team, and our website (Rankd.uk) is the fruit of our labour over the last few years. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend having a look… Over the years, we’ve seen some incredible publications and projects emerging from Brighton - from the likes of @spotbrighton to @theb_scene, and even new venues, promotors and bands like @waxingpink, @iflippingluvbrighton and our latest interview with @alligatrband. Brighton is always the best to do it. That being said, it’s been a quieter time for us, and it feels like the right time to say… I’ve made the decision to slowly put Rankd into hibernation by the end of the year, but we still have plenty to share before we do! Expect interviews with @georgiemoon_music and @brightonelectricpresents, paired with articles from some of our favourite projects and events including @patrick.circus, @_watchingalice_, @mutationsfestival + more. Our website, Instagram, and email will remain open, and we’ll be continuing our monthly @slackcityradio show. Who knows - maybe we’ll return in the future! Thank you to everyone for their love and support for this little project over the years, it’s been nothing but a pleasure ❤️ Kris, Ben + the Rankd team P.S- if you use A.I for music journalism, you suck x 🎵 @alligatrband - Foxglove 🎵 EMF - Unbelievable Reel features @phoebe_wigglyair, @sidequest.records (@aripascual_), @misterjoeblack, @couldbeghostsband, @folkloresessions, @m.woodroe, @goodbye.band, @the_clubheads, @georgiemoon_music and @brightonelectricpresents

New show running through @sidewaysepromo in October! Got a great lineup of awesome artists / bands with a wide mix of genres, all for a great cause supporting @aktcharity - Pointless Waste Of Dopamine: Midwest emo / Post-hardcore influenced 4 piece wearing vulnerable emotions on their sleeve lyrically. - Clouded: Melodic Hardcore 4 piece formed in Brighton in 2025. - Could Be Ghosts: Brighton based emo band, they pull from 2000s aesthetics, metalcore, and DIY ethos. - Frances Murray: Released her album Dreamer this year, Alt-Grunge / Indie "Heavy music for soft people" - Jack Smith: His intricate acoustic songs give off an elliot smith vibe with a great splash of emo as well. Massive thank you to @daltonsbrighton for letting us put this show on with no cost due to it being for a great cause! Link in bio of @pointlesswasteofdopamine for buying advance tix! Dress up encouraged as it's going to be halloween season :) #emo #gigs #brighton

It's been a few days since @couldbeghostsband's Florence celebrated her birthday down at @daltonsbrighton - it got us reflecting on the busy year the emo 5-piece have had this year! ✨ Before the release of June’s 'cold', we had a quick catch-up about the earlier self-produced track 'sinking nails' back in May. During the interview, we asked the all important questions... What was the vision for the sound of the track? Did you encounter any challenges when writing and recording? Paired with a DIY, camcorder-style music video recorded at @thepipelinebrighton (we don't envy you for the bathroom shots 😷), sinking nails has quickly become a set-list staple - and we LOVE it!

This Year I had the honour of performing at Trans Pride 2026 on their Band Stage in Victoria Gardens. While I was there, I got to meet an absolute smorgasbord of brilliant performances throughout the day and busted out the camera for them all, so here's a little recap of the day! Can't wait till next year! 🎵: @againstme - True Trans Soul Rebel! #transpridebrighton #bandphotography #festival #lgbt #againstme

I can’t believe it’s been a month since this incredible show from @thisissundaybest !!! Birmingham is a second home to this alt emo band, who last month released their single Cleopatra in a Past Life. This run of shows, marks a new era for the band which includes incredible matching shirts but the same angry, outspoken Sunday Best that you know and love. @deadletter.promotions and @pinknoizepromo put together an absolute stormer of a lineup with co headliners @couldbeghostsband @centrala_space, and I yapped to a few people about why they love Centrala and Sunday Best! Supporting were @mistinguk, @equinoxband_uk @monroe.wav Thanks to @pavalarr12 of @thegenes__ Steph of @bigjoanieband Phoebe of @thecarolinebomb Kevin & @demetriiuz !!!
