An EXCELLENT use of free will, spending our Sunday at the @countertalk Bread and Butter Off. Talk about carb loading 🍞🧈✨

A bread and butter old fashioned, followed by some of the best bread we’ve ever had. Our personal favourites:

Mine - the @angelina.london Hokkaido milk bread with kumquat and burnt honey butter

Tom’s - @portlandrestaurant black treacle soda bread with whey butter and hay hollandaise

Haruki’s - @thefatbadger_w10 soda bread with smoked bacon butter, which he proceeded to smear all over his head and screamed when we tried to take it away he loved it so much

Sadly had to leave before the official winners were announced but they were ALL SO GOOD
Such a fun way to spend an afternoon together 💕

A bit of a different Sunday 🍞 🧈

Bread & butter is the ultimate symbol of hospitality, it’s what sets the tone for the meal. At least it does for me.

Today I joined the @countertalk Bread & Butter-Off where 8 top independent bakeries and restaurants came together to compete for the title of Countertalk Bread & Butter Champion.

Loaded on carbs & fat, I can say it’s been a truly exceptional experience (one of these doesn’t happen every day). Tried some really delicious stuff ☺️

Don’t tell dad bakery - Brown rice & miso sourdough, with roasted fig butter. My absolute favourite, maybe biased cause they are my neighbours 🤍

Gina restaurant - Landrace milling sourdough with burnt honey butter

Peckam Cellar - focaccia with whipped pesto butter

Angelina - hokkaido milk bread with kumquat jam and burnt honey butter (winner)

Fink’s bakery- porridge sourdough with hand churned butter, topped with caramelised crumb

Tavern - fire bread with tomato, house miso & citrus kosho butter

The Fat Badger - Soda Bread with smoked bacon butter

Portland - Black Treacle Soda Bread with whey butter and hay hollandaise

With @kerrygold_uk at the heart of this ✨✨
