Brick by Brick 🧱 my deck for @aigacos Deck’d Out show, on display all October @coatiuprise

I’ve done art of some kind since I could hold a crayon. And after 20 years of building a meaningful, intentional career out of creativity… things feel different now.

There’s a particular irony of art kids getting shoved into the capitalism swimming pool I guess.

Maybe it’s decades of working on a screen, or the difference between Artist and Designer, the onslaught of AI being shoved down our throats, or all the above, but I wanted to make something physical for this show. Something you could feel, something rough, textured, heavy.

I couldn’t be happier with the result.

The process was a sketch 👉 digital type design in Illustrator 👉 snag a board, sand it, paint the back, fiberglass the front 👉 3D print some type stamps 👉 model clay “bricks” 👉 put it all together with stucco. Oh and I embroidered an artist tag that I then screwed on the back.

Amazing, cathartic process to step back, and force myself to slow down and get back to intention… because some things are worth taking the time to do right.

Thanks to @aigacos for some solid programming this year 🤙 if you see this on 10/3, they’ve got a few more events this weekend for Design Week.

Community isn’t built overnight, and nobody knows that better than day 1 partners @drinkfabric who’ll have crisp, refreshing drinks (and maybe a giveaway too … gonna have to attend to find out huh?)

@anchorpoint.club only partners with Colorado-proud brands and @drinkfabric is one of the best. They make sparkling hop water, with and without relaxing additives like THC, CBD, and CBG, so you can get a mellow buzz without the headache.

The Fabric team will be on site for tastings! Come say hi to them and all our other awesome supporters next week at Event 6.

Tickets required, link in bio. Use code SAILAWAY for a free ticket, though all purchases help us put on the types of events with getting off the couch for.

@anchorpoint.club hosts events for creatives who hate “networking” … why would we deceive you? Also if this bans my account, we’ll just have to meet in real life at next week’s event!

I promise, our events are fun, built for people who hate cringey events. Free food, drinks, good vibes, cool creatives who are your new friends, mentors, interns, employers, you just haven’t met them yet.

The next event is just 1 week away! Tickets over at @anchorpoint.club bio

We’re riding the swell into our second voyage 🌊🦜🌴✨

Sunday, September 20, Wave Runner will be turning the patio at @ftgreenebar into a beach party benefit for @senditfoundation inspired by and in support of one of Wave Runner’s longtime friends, @mypaigeoftheworld of @howdy_paige , and her fundraiser for the foundation.

We’re elated to bring Wave Runner to one of our favorite places in Denver and shine some light on an organization whose mission feels especially close to home here in Colorado.

@senditfoundation gets young adults living with cancer outside through free adventures to ski, snowboard, surf, mountain bike, climb, and more. These trips give folks the chance to play, push themselves, and be surrounded by others who understand what they’re going through.

Getting outside and having fun by doing the things that make us happy, is something our crew cherishes. We couldn’t be more excited to rally around an organization making more of that accessible!

And our crew showed up for this one. We have all the bounty for yall, all donated by friends and outdoor brands to raffle off throughout the afternoon.

Raffle tickets are $5 each, no limit, and every dollar from goes directly to the fundraiser!

Come hang. Win some bounty. Get outside. #sendit We can’t wait to see you!

Presenting Flagship Event 006: Passion Over Projects ft. @seanherman - one guy, one rule, one unbelievable creative career.

From sponsored skater, to college dropout, world-touring DJ, to award-winning designer, Sean’s built the kind of career many creatives only dream of…but not without some curve balls.

If you’re a creative (designer, videographer, photographer, illustrator, copywriter, director, animator, developer, etc) looking for community, without living on the coasts, this one’s for you.

THUR, OCT 1

Doors at 5:30pm
Speaker at 6:30pm
Close around 8ish (schedule subject to change)

All @anchorpoint.club events are a mix of “active” - meet someone new, grab free food & drink thanks to our sponsors, come down from the day - and “passive” - sit, relax, and hear about Sean’s incredible career, with Q&A at the end.

This is also a rare chance for the local creative community to check out Sean’s private skate park at 1305 Osage St, just a few blocks off Colfax & 6th (with plenty of street parking nearby).
