Painter in Berlin

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s been a while since I’ve shared what I’ve been up to, and I think Sundays are a good day for it. I’ve been working on two new paintings simultaneously; one is already finished, the other is still in progress. At first, it was just a few lines from a @honeymoon song, but I’ve been rereading Arthur Yap, and the magic of his poems, that kind of green light and simplicity that emanates from his lines, has permeated everything. Also, before I start painting, I’m creating a map of associations that give the work its mood, but which also act as a mental filter. When you pay attention, you start to see those associations, colors, and shapes everywhere.
A few days ago, I was talking to @valentingiuseppe and he asked me why I sign my paintings on the front. I realized it was a remnant from when I used to paint in the street, but now it’s not adding anything to the work, so I’ve started signing on the back. It’s been Berlin Art Week, and the activity and meetings with artists, curators, and gallery owners have been constant. I’m very grateful for all the interesting and creative people I’ve met these past few days. I visited @cousinteun studio, saw an exhibition by Karol Bethke at @lempertz_1845_art with @alessandro.lupi.art , the “Spectral” exhibition at @029berlin and on Friday, an incredible and very powerful performance by @vwvwvw.2 at @__galerie__gesamtkunstwerk__
Yesterday I still had enough energy to visit an exhibition in @neurotitangallery of Venezuelan artists selling their work to help the victims of the recent earthquake. I wasn’t able to take any photos, but I highly recommend a visit. I think that after so much visual information, a break in another format is necessary, and that’s a book. I’m enjoying “Design” by Alan Moore, where every page is a gem. I wish you a good start to the week.

“We usually think that we can see things, name them, point at them, use them or destroy them. With spectres, however, we find it difficult. Neither fully realised nor completely non-existent, they are an uncanny feature of lived experience. We encounter them as riddles, incomplete images as diffuse objects or unfinished thoughts.

For reasons of its own integrity, conscious life does not want to call spectres 'real', yet they resist the temptation to dissolve back into the flow of space and time, clinging to discrete life and claiming the right to exist. However, spectres are difficult to name or pinpoint. They feel out of place, showing the anarchy within every order and the chaos where structures should be.

Spectres endure despite the war waged against their existence. The exhibition explores the concept of spectral persistence. Each piece presents a mode of being for spectral images. From letters to words out of place, decontextualised occurrences and surprising mise-en-scènes, the exhibition measures the on-and-off relationship between mind and world that one can call spectral.”

📺 𝐋𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐛 - 𝐘𝐨𝐤𝐨 📺
𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐰 via 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 & 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐮̈𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐮̈𝐬𝐢 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬

Today, as they announce their new 7-inch record, 𝑨𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎 (September 11th, 2026), Berlin-based garage punk purveyors @lemongrammm share a peek from the elapsed-play by way of mutant disco earworm: “𝐘𝐨𝐤𝐨”. Built upon a snappy bass riff, nonchalant yet mechanically-sound drum grooves, and nifty guitar envolées, the song criticizes the male gaze, while paying homage to a misunderstood artist and activist who is incorrectly blamed to this day for the demise of her late partner’s iconic band. For the music video, two friends (@iv3_profile & @eddieeddieeddieeddieeddieeddie) set out on an adventure to go visit the grave of German singer, songwriter, actress, and model, Nico a.k.a.

"The cold blue sky like a stone on which angels
sublime and quite unearthly sharpen their wings"

(a classic pointed us)

"moving on rungs of radiance on crags of shadow
they gradually sink into the imaginary heavens"

@galerielinger and @cousinteun are pleased to invite you to "Cavities", an exhibition of small painterly form.

There should be flowers which turn to heavens in A minor.

"but in another moment they emerge even paler
on the other side of the sky the other side of the eye"

Vernissage: Saturday, 01.08.2026, 18:00
On view: 01.08 – 01.09.2026
