A new chapter in Soon - Lab for Possible Futures

Just over a year ago, Soon opened as an experiment. Together with Bikubenfonden, Thoravej 29, Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies and many generous collaborators, we asked:

What happens when we create a physical space for imagination?

Not a meeting room. Not a conventional exhibition. Not a workshop space. But a laboratory where artistic practice, futures thinking and systemic change blends.

Over the past year, more than 100 organisations have trained their imagination with us: municipalities, ministries, schools, cultural institutions, civil society organisations, private companies, foundations and interest groups.

We created a fellowship and have learned that imagination is a capacity, a discipline, and a form of preparedness. A way of sensing a change before it becomes policy, theory, strategy or structure.

We also learned that futures work changes when it becomes spatial: when people can walk through questions, gather around installations, touch materials, sit with uncertainty, and encounter possible futures through the body, not only through analysis.

This first year has been a journey of testing, hosting, listening, prototyping and learning. Now we open a new chapter. Join us on June 24 from 16-18, where we celebrate new methods for futures thinking that can support actual change. New artistic installations by Mathias Toubro, Julie Riis Andersen, Stine Deja & Marie Munk, and Anne Brandhøj. And the many organisations, practitioners and communities who have entered Snart with curiosity and courage.

Most of all, we celebrate that we have only just begun.
