We are overjoyed to introduce our October Alumni spotlight and Archery queen herself, Catherine Patridge! We let Catherine share in her own words below how learning archery at camp inspired her to join the Junior Olympic Archery Program and hope it inspires many more girls to come. 🏹

“Before the tournements or the daily practices or even my own bow, I started archery at Camp Riva Lake. During my first junior year I became very focused on working on my achievement awards, and while working on my level 3 for archery I got close with the counselor who led the activity, Scout Yorkley. During the final week of camp, she selected me and a handful of other juniors to compete in the annual archery competition, which I placed second in. From there I was hooked, so as soon as I got home I asked my dad if I could start doing lessons, so that next year I could win the entire competition.

Between my own competitiveness and the want to support the Olympian team, I was eager to join a team that fall. This led me to join a junior Olympic archery program (or JOAD program for short) near my home back in California. The rest is history! Now whenever I pick up my bow, whether it’s at nationals, an international competition or at a local event, I get to hold a piece of camp with me, regardless of how far away I am from that special place in Tennessee!”

Despite the crazy wind gusts and a downpour right in the middle of shooting, I’ve had the BEST time with all my archery friends here at Chula Vista! So many laughs, great memories, and good vibes no matter the weather! 🏹❤️🌧️☀️

2026 JOAD Target Nationals
What a trip! 🎯I started strong with a 5th place finish in qualifications. Nebraska’s crazy heat forced our elimination matches late into the night, followed by an early morning for semis and finals. Definitely tested every ounce of my focus and strength!

I am so excited to say I finished 1st in U18! 🥇 This was an amazing way to wrap up the USAT and outdoor season.

A huge thank you to my family, friends and coaches for all of your support. I couldn’t do it without you. ❤️

JOAD nationals 🤠🌽

Wow this tournament was a wake up call for me. Honestly, at the start of the season I thought mentally I was on the stronger side. After SoCal I started to realize that I was more focused on my score than my process. This carried on to JOAD nationals and led me to lose the first round of eliminations. I was honestly so disappointed in myself and went over that same match at least 100 times that night to figure out what I could’ve done differently. I figured out that I was ignoring the fundamentals, and shooting 200 arrows a day and scoring a few times a week is not the correct way to train.

Thank you to my coach @jp.archery you are the goat and I learn a lot this tournament

im very happy with how i shot at this tournament :) the weather was definitely not ideal, but i managed to set a couple of new personal records. it was so much fun shooting with old friends and meeting new ones (return of the signature hat) ! i unfortunately got eliminated in first round by @audreyk.l, but it was a close match and so much fun. all in all, it was a great tournament. thanks to @usaarchery for organizing it, @coachdunaway and coach tina for helping me through the shoot, and @udventuring for taking me :)

2026 Buckeye Classic!
Although I didn’t shoot my best, I learned so much from this tournament with lots of small wins along the way. I was able to get over some bad habits I developed and keep a positive mindset. I enjoyed shooting this weekend and cannot wait until JOAD Nationals. See you all in Nebraska!

State Outdoor and KSL camp‼️

I was really happy with how my form felt at state outdoor and got 4th. I learned a lot at KSL camp and made a lot of new friends. I also won a game of exploding kittens 😁
