Here are some pictures of the bike from @craftedbikeshow by @morajez and @mansmann_ It was a super fun event that I was lucky enough to be a part of. I talked to a ton of people interested in the bike as well as the other frame builders and people in the industry. Thanks to everyone that visited the booth and took a look at the bike. I got a lot of questions regarding the technical aspects of the bike which were relatively easy to answer. However I got a few about other things which were much more difficult. A big one was regarding my plans for the future. With just under a year left to college, where I want to study mechanical engineering, I don't have a ton of time for huge projects, but I do want to make one more bike and be able to ride it next summer. I started working on a dirt jumper bike and have designs for a downhill bike. I'm currently working on a research project about carbon fiber for a class in school, so I want to try making carbon fiber parts with 3d printed molds. At this point there's really no limit to what I can do beyond what I'm willing to learn. The other question was: why go to a bike show if I'm not selling bikes? That question makes a lot of sense when looking at a show as a means of reaching a new audience and new potential customers. A show takes time, money and effort, so it doesn't make much sense without getting something valuable out of it. For me, only having one bike to show, it became more of an experience and an exercise in talking to people. I was able to talk to experienced frame builders, and meet some of the people at Cane Creek who helped support the project and run the whole operation. Going to the show was an incredible opportunity, and why I went is part of learning new things in new contexts, and showing people what goes into building a frame with 100% transparency, which goes beyond just bikes. @canecreekusa @rideaertime @bermcycle @atlus.bike @aukprecision

We miss it already. @craftedbikeshow gave us great rides, great people, and great weather. Now we just want to go back. Also the “Rek” backwards bike will be back next year, but in 32”😂

The Blackwater Splitfire 32. Built around 32-inch wheels and designed to push the Splitfire concept a little further. This prototype features sliding dropouts, an elevated chainstay, and clearance for massive 32 × 2.4" tires. The sliding rear end gives us room to experiment with chainstay length and handling as we continue developing the 32" platform. This build was put together for the CRAFTED Bike Show at Cane Creek and features: • Gulo Composites 32" Wheels with Carbon Spokes (1370 grams) • Prototype Marginal Gain Self-aligning Chainring • Silca 32 × 2.4" Protocol RCG3 Tires and Ti Cages • ENVE Rigid Boost Mountain Fork • ENVE AR Handlebars • Cane Creek eeWings Titanium Crankset • Cane Creek HCR stem and Headset • SRAM XO/Rival Drivetrain and Brakes • Ergon SM Saddle • Wolftooth Seatpost Clamp 34.9 • Ciclovation Bar Wrap The goal wasn't simply to fit bigger wheels into a bike—it was to build the frame around them and explore what a purpose-built 32" titanium bike can do. When we heard that @canecreekusa was hosting a bicycle and gear show at their headquarters this summer, we were quick to sign up. Nestled in beautiful public lands and national forest, the Asheville, NC area is full of opportunity for great bikepacking trips and riding and the folks in the area really cherish their time in the unique ecosystems nearby. With the recent talk of repealing the Roadless Rule across federally owned public lands, Asheville outdoors enthusiasts are among the many standing up to voice their opposition - and we loved hearing about it during the inaugural Crafted.⁠ ⁠ We were excited to reconnect with so many great orgs and makers in person, and met so many new friends there as well while we talked bikepacking, bike-raftpacking, routes, gear libraries, community support and more. ⁠ ⁠ For our two days on site, we ran a fun and quick survey to ask attendees to pick their ideal campsite - and had a great mix of answers! In the end, more folks dream about sleeping up in the heights of a fire tower but the closest runner up was in a fern gully by the river - a photo taken beside the Greenbrier River in West Virginia. ⁠ ⁠ Thank you for coming by, saying HELLO👋 and talking about all the ways you love experiencing and connecting with the terrain and ecosystems around you. Asheville is certainly a special place, and we were honored to be surrounded by so many incredible other local manufacturers and organizations working to expand access to the amazing riding in the region!⁠ ⁠ Let's do it again next year!⁠

Really enjoyed going to @craftedbikeshow this weekend! I volunteered for @dirtskrrts to tell more ladies how awesome of an organization it is. All of the vendors were so cool! This year I got to celebrate my birthday in the best way. WNC came together and raised funds to build an adaptive mountain bike for one of our local @catalyst_sports community members. With the help of @canecreekusa we brought to life this beautiful @project.mjolnir.nyu during @craftedbikeshow where I had the privilege to present it to our great friend Josh.
