Day Three – Flash Your Stash – #yarnfriendsrock

I thought I'd quickly jump on and take part in today's @yarnfriendsrock prompt because, well, you know I never shy away from an impromptu stash photo!

So, this isn't all of my stash, as most of it is stored away in IKEA zip bags and in my daughter's trusty old toybox, but I do love to keep the prettiest of it out on display. My craft room doubles as my day job office, so it's lovely to work and teach next to so many gorgeous, inspiring hanks and balls of yarn! Also, if I feel a bit of inspo hitting between classes it's easy to reach over and squish... Bonus.

You might notice that I'm also repurposing an old Tripp Trapp highchair as my office chair, hoping that it'll sort my back out and be all ergonomic and stuff - I'll let you know if it works because my almost 42-year-old back needs all the help it can get 😭🤣! It cost an absolute fortune back in the day, so I'm hoping to get even more use out of it!

How do you store your yarn?

Eek! One week to go until I’ll be at @thestitchfestival in London 🤩🤩

Here are some pics from last year - this year (in my wisdom) I’ve taken on double the stand size!! I’m hoping I might be able to make a little area for people to sit a crochet 🤩 please do stop by and say hi!

I’m also doing a talk on the Sunday all about Blanket design and what goes into creating a crochet along!

Are you planning on coming? I’d love to see you there!! It’s running Thursday 19th-Sunday 22nd in Islington 🥳🥳🥳

Create It Yourself: Spring Creativity

Yes, yes, I know it’s not spring yet… but we’re all fed up of the rainy gloomy weather and longing for brighter days, aren’t we? Well, I certainly am. So, for this month’s Create It Yourself feature we’ve got four projects by creative women with small business here in the UK, to bring a little spring creativity your way.

Created to last long after the season fades, the In Bloom Cushions are a radiant duo inspired by seed heads and late summer blooms.

One design layers soft texture with sculptural puff stitches and a playful ruffle border, while the other adds graphic drama through tapestry crochet and bursts of popcorn stitch. Both are made using #ScheepjesColourCrafter in tones that brighten even the greyest days.

You can find the patterns, designed by @craftingbylucy, in Scheepjes Pattern Portfolio Volume 3: Colour Crafter, available in print via Scheepjes retailers or as a digital download on Ravelry.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the book tour for my new stitches card deck, I loved seeing every single stop and the many different ways the deck was used. This is exactly the jumping off point the decks are supposed to be used as. I hope you were just as inspired as I was and will go on to make some lovely crochet using the deck
The deck is officially on sale now! So if you want one visit your local yarn shop or book shop to pick one up or see my links to buy
Lots of love and thanks to

Buy this book! I only meant to hook one or two of the granny squares in 100 Essential Crochet Motifs by @themissingyarn published by @gmcpublications but somehow got stuck to my seat and may well now crochet the remaining 96! Cassie Ward really is the queen of granny squares so it should be no surprise.

I’m so happy to be part of Cassie’s book tour, yesterday was @thehivewales and tomorrow it’s the turn of @craftingbylucy Right… off to hook just one more square… 🧶💝🥰❤️💪
