If you’ve ever wondered how something goes from an idea in a maker’s head to the finished piece you see in a shop, make sure you pop into Horeb Chapel over Festival of Senses weekend. 🎨🧶

Crafts Alive take over the chapel for the weekend, bringing some of their incredibly talented local artists and makers with them and this isn’t just a case of looking at the finished work.

You can watch makers at work, see the techniques they use and have a chat with the people behind the pieces. There are also opportunities to get involved yourself, including ceramic painting and other hands-on sessions.

Definitely allow yourself a bit of time for this one… you might go in for a quick look and find yourself staying much longer than planned. 🩷

Os ydych chi erioed wedi meddwl sut mae syniad yng nghreadigrwydd gwneuthurwr yn troi’n ddarn gorffenedig, gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod chi’n galw heibio Capel Horeb dros benwythnos Gŵyl y Synhwyrau. 🎨🧶

Mae Crafts Alive yn meddiannu’r capel dros y penwythnos, gan ddod â rhai o’u hartistiaid a’u gwneuthurwyr lleol talentog gyda nhw ac mae llawer mwy i’w weld na’r gwaith gorffenedig yn unig.

Gallwch wylio’r gwneuthurwyr wrth eu gwaith, gweld y technegau maen nhw’n eu defnyddio a chael sgwrs â’r bobl y tu ôl i’r darnau. Mae cyfle hefyd i roi cynnig arni eich hun, gan gynnwys peintio cerameg a gweithgareddau ymarferol eraill.

Gwnewch yn siŵr eich bod chi’n gadael digon o amser ar gyfer hon… efallai y byddwch chi’n galw mewn am gip sydyn ac yn aros llawer hirach nag oeddech chi wedi bwriadu. 🩷

It's been my turn to be in charge at @crafts.alive today in Llandeilo, listening to The Folk Show on repeat and chatting to lovely visitors.

These are a couple of pieces I have there at the minute - some new(ish) collaged memory panels- and some other gems that caught my eye.

A little look at some of the jewellery you’ll find right here in Llandeilo 💎

From contemporary Welsh design at Mari Thomas, to Barr & Co Jewellery and the handmade pieces you’ll find at Crafts Alive, there’s plenty to discover around town.

Definitely worth a browse while you’re here for Festival of Senses and a good excuse to get a head start on the festive shopping too. 👀

Every November, Horeb comes alive with Crafts Alive.

Across the festival weekend, the chapel fills with independent makers and artists, with everything from ceramics and textiles to jewellery, artwork and handmade gifts.

It’s one of those places you can easily spend far longer than planned, browsing, chatting to the makers and finding something you won’t see everywhere else.

Something that isn’t labradorite! 😱
This is a Star Ruby. I’ve had it for a while but only just decided on the perfect “vehicle” for it.
Why a ring? Well, the thing about the Star Ruby (or sapphire, or garnet etc) is that as you move it and it catches the light, a star appears to hover just above the surface. Obviously it’s an optical illusion but trust me, you’ll be fascinated. It’s way easier to sit there admiring something on your finger than it is something hanging around your neck!
Having said that, I do have a few more, both rubies and sapphires, so one of them may end up as a pendant.
The photo really doesn’t do it justice. I’m just not that good of a photographer and at two o’clock this morning I was a bit over it! 😴🫣
The two white lines are a reflection I couldn’t get rid of. Sorry!
