We had the loveliest autumn day helping our community plant forests at the Roots and Wings Eco-Festival last Saturday! Thank you for stopping by our tent to learn about Sierra Club! We planted 300 avocados, enjoyed some climate friendly family programming, and supported our friends at @treefolks @austincreativereuse @parents_climate_community @citizensclimate @rosedalehuddle

Thank you to everyone who showed up to defend Austin’s local environment, health, democracy, and economy against Amazon’s Dogs Head Annexation Development at Austin City Hall this afternoon. There were 640 constituents signed up. Austin Sierra Club joined friends at @saveoursprings @austinenvironmentaldemocrats @poder.austin @goaustinvamos @publiccitizentx and @psl.atx to voice opposition to Amazon’s secret takeover of 2600 acres of land. We are honored to stand in solidarity with the community against corporate welfare agreements for billionaires. 📈💸

Join Austin Sierra Club for a community workshop at City Hall on Earth Day! In celebration of Earth Day and ATX Climate Week, Austin Sierra Club is holding a workshop to connect folks who care and help citizens find their voice in local government. The workshop will cover the organization of our municipal government and the boards and commissions related to environmental stewardship. Learn how to communicate with, and submit testimony to, our municipal government and its boards and commissions! We will share experiences as local activists and answer any questions our community may have about city procedures and climate advocacy with interactive Q and A. Be prepared to go through a security scan to enter the building. Signs and posters 22 X 28 inches or less are permitted inside. Bring your Earth Day artwork! Some community questions to consider and share this Earth Day: -What issues do you care about most? -What issues do you wish city government cared more about? -What issues scare you most? -What prevents you from engaging in local government? -What have been your experiences with local government? -What has been your involvement with local government? -Have you been to a city council meeting? -What is your relationship with your City Council Members? -How do you know what to prioritize, when everything is an emergency? -What are effective advocacy strategies? -What are not effective advocacy strategies? -What are your advocacy success stories? -How do you find city events and meetings to attend? -How do you join a city board or commission? -How do we unite efforts as a community? Let's communicate as a community at City Hall for Earth Day 2026! Sierra Club Lonestar Conservation Chair Dr. Craig Nazor led a tender and heartfelt environmental breakout group at the Travis County Convention today. Craig has been a compassionate community leader for four decades and is a wealth of wisdom. He has worked with the Audubon Society, Zilker Botanical Gardens, Clean Water Action, the Save our Springs Alliance, Save Barton Creek Association, Austin Animal Advisory Commission, Commission on Environmental Quality, Sea Turtle Recovery Center on South Padre, and campaign against Space X Expansion. He’s an inspiration and local hero. When you see him around say hello and thank him for his service! In times like these, he recommends listening to the birds and singing. Referencing Wendell Berry, he advises to learn what is good for the world, not what is good for us. 🙏 💚🏔️🛶🐦‍⬛🦇🐢🌊✨ @saveoursprings @audubonsociety @seaturtleinctx @zilkerbotanicalgarden #conservation #ecosystems #enviroment
