#Sampson and I have been good friends from the get go. It only took him about a day before he started giving me the squinty eyes of love. But his sister, #Nala, a former feral, has been petrified of me and has been hiding in her safe room for over a week now. She was eating and using the litter box so she’s OK and I’m certainly not gonna force myself on her. Today, I think she realized that I’m OK. When I entered the room, she didn’t bolt. She just looked at me. I went outside and saw that she was also continuing to look at me through the window. It’s a very strange experience for me to not have every animal I meet fall in love with me at first sight. It’s good to have an ego check every so often. Happy kitties!

I am currently sitting two cats. One of them is highly fearful, and had only made a couple of appearances. Sampson, the polydactyly with baseball mitt size to paws, we’ve made friends. He slept pressed into me last night. Nala, the very shy girl, has been hiding. I am absolutely letting her go at her own pace and she has a room where she can hang out where she feels safe. I’ve been feeding her in there, and she will eat overnight and she ate this morning if I closed the door to that room. She is using the litter box regularly. That’s just about on track for what I should be doing with this sweet girl. I’m hoping that I can be friends with her soon. Again, at her pace. It’s so weird when an animal doesn’t immediately love me. Lol. I am shook.

After some brief time off after saying goodbye to my Phoebe, it feels good to be back @muttvillesf ❤️‍🩹There’s no place more healing and nothing more gratifying than helping our sweet seniors get adopted💖Sometimes the tears come when I think of Phoebe, and the tears are always met with understanding and support. I’m so grateful for this community and for the healing love from our old mutts 🙏🏼💞🌈🌺🩷#adoptdontshop #seniordogs #grief #grateful #petloss
