Just a few hours before taking this photo, Julian and I were photographing the partial solar eclipse from high in the Swiss Alps. But once the Sun had disappeared behind the mountains, the second part of our trip began.

The Perseid meteor shower was reaching its peak that night, so we set up the camera again and waited beneath a completely moonless sky. After carrying all our equipment up the mountain and spending the entire evening outside, this was one of the images that made it all worth it.

Two astronomical events, one location and a night I won’t forget anytime soon.

Partial solar eclipse over the Swiss Alps 🇨🇭

Yesterday, Europe witnessed one of the most spectacular astronomical events in decades — the 2026 solar eclipse. 🌒

While totality crossed parts of Spain, large areas of Europe experienced a deep partial eclipse. From my location in Switzerland, the Sun reached around 91% coverage.

This is probably one of my favorite images from that evening: the solar crescent slowly touching the Swiss mountains, with a few clouds drifting across the scene just before sunset.

Captured with the @sonyalphaeu 200–600mm + @viltrox.official 2× Teleconverter at 1200mm.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to Spain for totality because of work, but I’m incredibly happy that I still managed to spend the night in Switzerland photographing both the eclipse and the Perseid Meteor hower.

About the Perseids… absolutely insane. This was probably my best Perseid night ever. So many bright meteors, countless big ones and even two fireballs.

There is definitely a lot more coming from this trip.

The Horsehead Nebula (IC434)

After over a year, I'm back to astrophotography!

The Horsehead Nebula is a large cloud of ionized gas located within the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. The nebula's bright hydrogen alpha gives it its recognizable pink-red color. The nebula was first discovered by Williamina Flemming in 1888 and is about 1500 light years away from Earth. At the center is a smaller thick cloud about 4 light-years tall, with the shape of a horse's head. This cloud, located in front of the rest of the nebula, blocks the light from behind it, giving the image an interesting contrast. Near the top and center of the image is the star Sigma Orionis, which has a fascinating magnetic effect on the gas below it, creating streaks toward the star in the photograph. To the left of the horsehead is the Flame Nebula (NGC2024) and the small reflection nebula below the horsehead is NGC2023.

This is my last image with the Celestron C8 & Hyperstar. It's been my main telescope for about 3 years, but I've upgraded to a larger 10" scope and I'm super excited to share the images I've been taking with it.

Faintly Visible~

• M8 is located in the heart of the summer milky way band. A target I’ve wanted to image for a long time, M8 is visible with just a pair of binoculars if your skies are dark enough. My processing skills have come a long way in the past year, and this image is proof of that Imo. I really hope you enjoy, this is one of my all time favorite images so far. (Sorry for the lack of posts recently, I’ve been in the middle of a change in main scope system. A hyperstar for the C6 is on its way and should bring even better images asap!)
