The Boston Marathon isn’t 26.2 miles.

It’s 5:00 a.m. alarms
It’s 18 miles before work
It’s 9 miles after work

It’s hill repeats
It’s long runs in the cold
It’s tempo runs in the heat

It’s saying no
It’s early bedtimes
It’s foam rollers in the living room
It’s saying no again

It’s finding a qualifying race
It’s standing on that start line
knowing this one decides everything

It’s qualifying at that race
Or missing it by seconds

It’s refreshing the results page
It’s doing the math over and over
It’s wondering if it was enough

It’s trying again

It’s people asking “why Boston?”
And not really having an answer
Just knowing it matters

It’s the in-between moments
The ones no one sees
The ones that don’t make race photos

Because Boston isn’t earned in Hopkinton
It’s earned long before.

Today is when it starts to feel real

Landing in Boston
Legs stiff from travel

Shaking out the legs
Trying to shake out the nerves

Seeing the jackets
Hearing the accents

Checking, rechecking, then checking again
Shoes. Bib. Weather. Alarm.

It’s knowing there’s nothing left to prove
And everything ahead

Tomorrow is race day
But today it starts to feels real

I didn’t remember this moment.
But it remembered me.

This book arrived like any other package.
No build up. No expectations.

I opened it casually.
And then I stopped breathing for a second.

Because there it was.
A moment I had already let go of
now holding me still.

I don’t remember the camera.
I don’t remember posing.
I only remember moving forward.

Life is strange like that.
You think moments disappear once they’re over
but some of them quietly wait
until you are ready to see them again.

Today reminded me of something important:
keep going, even when no one seems to notice.
Some pages are written long before they’re revealed.

I closed the book slowly.
Somehow lighter than before.

The joy, the pain, the belief that comes from marathon running.

The finish line is like nowhere else in the world.
