Join us for a fun and engaging workshop where you will learn the essential skills of the improvisation theater and what happens behind the scenes of this art. Discover the joy of spontaneous storytelling, build confidence, and enhance your communication skills in a safe and supportive environment!

Through the course of 12 hours, this workshop will teach you the craft of creating captivating stories and scenes on the spot, with no preparation and born of the moment, but as characters from within your story, and performing it with seamless collaboration with your peers, stepping outside your comfort zone with confidence. The improvisation theater is a unique art where the creative product is the very process of its creation. You will unleash your creativity, boost your self-esteem, and develop essential skills at a fast track that will in fact impact and benefit your personal and professional life strongly. Through engaging exercises and expert guidance, you will learn how to create compelling characters, build worlds, associate ideas, create relationships, communicate, listen and develop a strong awareness of emotion, movement and theatrical space both real and imaginary, all within a globally recognized curriculum of Impro Theater training and in a one-of-a-kind, integrated experience and space and in a fully immersive experience.

This workshop constitutes a basic block should you wish to continue your journey with the art of the improvisation theater (in all its forms including Impro, Theatre of The Oppressed, Playback Theatre, Clown etc.) and to explore its unique instruments and skills, and has merits to personal and professional development (including communicative skills, intuitive speed and spontaneity, self-awareness of mind, movement and emotion, self-confidence boosting and beating anxiety, and all areas of creative development of self and artistic expression including performance arts and storytelling).

NOTE: This workshop has a priority of acceptance for Theatre of The Oppressed L1 workshop applicants (offered in Sep 2026), in order to fulfil their prerequisite requirements.

Let’s talk about the human condition…

Join us in our groundbreaking workshops of didactic improvised theater in following the schools of Augusto Boal’s Theatre of The Oppressed and David Diamond’s Theatre for Living. This workshop presents the concept and format of this highly interactive theater in its two most basic formats: Image Theatre and Forum Theatre. The participants will learn the philosophies of these forms in addition to the theatrical technique and skill, undergo some of the reflective symbolic games of the Theatre of The Oppressed to identify systematic oppression in societies and communities, generate the collective consciousness of their community presence, and initiate the Forum Theatre’s narrative and emotional acting interventions and dialogues and in the process, develop their craft strongly as actors, storytellers and ‘spect-actors’, and journey deep into their own selves. The Theatre of the Oppressed additionally turns the theater into a social laboratory, and works to develop the health and collective psychology of the community as a whole. This workshop will include an interactive Forum Theatre evening open to a limited audience where the participants will exercise their newly acquired skills as a troupe and as improvisation ToTO actors in live-Jokered theater.

Participants who continue into the second module will be introduced to more advanced theatrical formats of the Theatre of The Oppressed and the Theatre for Living that involve internalised oppression of self (Rainbow of Fear & Desire, Cops in The Head, The Human Algorithm) using their newly-gained tools of Image & Forum Theatre and, time-permitting, theoretical or simulated introductions to other formats like Newspaper Theatre, Invisible Theatre, Your Wildest Dream, etc.

Following this workshop (Module 1), attendees are qualified to move to L2 ToTO which is a full theatrical production in the Theatre of The Oppressed to an open audience, anywhere in the world.

Earlier this year, at the peak of the regional conflict, Bahrain Writers’ Circle, in collaboration with Createit, launched a competition, inviting writers and artists to bring alive their emotions as they navigated the uncertainty of the war.

The response was overwhelming with over 100 entries. Countless stories. One shared love for Bahrain.
Every submission reflected a different perspective of our beloved kingdom.

We went back to the drawing board and put together an esteemed panel of judges, who have whetted the submissions and shortlisted winners. And now, we would like you to meet them.

We are grateful to our judges for the thought given to every entry, and to everyone who shared their voice through words and art.
Stay tuned for the winners announcement!
