Meditation for PEACE

THOUGHTS

NeSpoon 2012–2042

THOUGHTS is a record of meditation dedicated to peace in the world, preserved in porcelain.

The process of creating ceramic petals from leftover clay from other works began intuitively and without a defined purpose. Week after week, each petal became more delicate and precise. I devoted increasing attention, focus and care to their formation. Gradually, this simple and repetitive act transformed into a meditation for peace — a quiet practice of directing thoughts toward harmony, compassion and coexistence between people.

While shaping the petals, I experienced calmness and inner balance. My thoughts became clearer, filled with hope, gentleness and a sense of connection with others. It felt as though these meditative intentions for peace were materialising into fragile white porcelain forms.

The project began in 2012 and will continue for as long as I am able.
The final exhibition will take place in 2042.

Over the years, I have continued forming petals in the places I visit around the world. I sit quietly, observe my surroundings, and allow thoughts about peace, humanity and shared existence to flow freely through my mind. In those moments, my fingers shape petals that become a physical trace of these meditations.

This process reminds me of early sound recording methods, where a vibrating needle carved grooves into wax, preserving sound. Here, each gesture records a moment of reflection and an intention for peace.

Each petal takes about one minute to form.
I aim to create 50 kg of petals every year. By 2042, the project will consist of approximately 1500 kg of THOUGHTS.

I believe that the sound created by THOUGHTS carries the energy of these meditations and invites reflection, calmness and peace — both within ourselves and in the world around us.

When All Is Calm

This scene was first experienced by a dear friend (@indyerkay - thank you so much for this beautiful photo 🫶🏾) in Benue State, North-Central Nigeria, the food basket of the nation. A land rich in beauty, strength, and resilience, yet one that has endured so much pain and loss in recent times. Still…the moon shines here. Still…the water reflects light. Still…the grass grows lush and green. Peace still visits.
I painted myself into this memory because, in my heart, I was already there, standing in the quiet, breathing in stillness, listening to silence speak. The bright moonlight, its golden reflection on the water, the gentle glow of the streetlight, they all whisper hope. They remind me that even in places touched by sorrow, life still finds ways to glow.
I could stare at that reflection forever…and if I could step closer, I’d look for myself in it too. It took me back to childhood nights under the moon with my dad, tales, laughter, warmth. I miss him deeply, but nights like this remind me that love still lingers in the light.

Thank you @createpeace.online for giving me the gentle push to create this work, for encouraging me to sit with peace in the most personal way, for inspiring artists around the world to seek peace, speak peace, and create peace. I’m honored to be part of this, and for reminding us that peace is not distant, it is something we can imagine, create, and share together. 🌍✨

“Red Inside”

Women from different corners of the world came together — from Africa, Europe, Asia. Among them were both Ukrainian and Russian women.

They lay with their bare bodies on sharp, glass-like fragments of hardened lava. It was painful. The lava left scratches on their skin. This act became a performance — a gesture of unity, pain, acceptance, and strength.

They lay side by side, without division, as a symbol of equality and peace.
We are all red inside.

The lava represents renewal. A symbol of cleansing and complete liberation from prejudice — from everything that divides us. Out of burning pain, something honest, raw, and alive is born.

In dem Projekt @createpeace.online schaffen Künstler:innen weltweit ihr persönliches Bild von Frieden. Inzwischen haben 26 Kunstschaffende aus der Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syrien, Israel, dem Jemen, den USA, Mexiko, Brasilien, Island, Finnland, den Niederlanden, Frankreich und Deutschland ihr Werk beigesteuert.
Jetzt wird die stetig wachsende Ausstellung gefeiert; mehr als die Hälfte der ausgestellten Künstler:innen wird bei der Eröffnung anwesend sein. Schirmherr der Veranstaltung ist Sven Lehmann, Vorsitzender des Ausschusses für Kultur und Medien im Deutschen Bundestag

createPeace: Kann Kunst Frieden definieren?

Die Welt ist von Krisen und Konflikten geprägt, viele Menschen fühlen sich ohnmächtig. Doch gerade jetzt braucht es Mut und Bilder, die Hoffnung schenken. Dem setzt die Initiative @createpeace.online positive Bilder entgegen: Künstler und Kulturschaffende sind eingeladen, ihre Vorstellungen von Frieden zu zeigen. Die Werke eröffnen neue Räume für Austausch – online und im direkten Dialog.

Meine Interpretation von Frieden: Faces of Peace – Gesichter des Friedens

In meinem Bild erscheinen Gesichter aus allen Nationen als farbintensive Kreise – eine lebendige, bunte Gemeinschaft, in der jeder willkommen ist.
Die Kreisform, Symbol für Ganzheit und Vollkommenheit, wird hier zur Gestalt des Menschlichen. Statt individueller Porträts hebt die geschlossene Symbolik des Kreises das Gemeinsame hervor: das Miteinander als Bild des Friedens.
Die Spiralen im Inneren der Kreise bedeuten Lebendigkeit und Dynamik im Einklang, frei von Störung.
Die leuchtenden Farben verkörpern die Vielfalt der Nationen und die Unterschiedlichkeit der Menschen. Sie zeigen: Frieden entsteht nicht aus Einheitlichkeit, sondern aus der Fähigkeit, Differenz nebeneinander bestehen zu lassen – wie in einem bunten Mosaik.
Dieses Mosaik wirkt wie ein Chor aus fröhlichen und zufriedenen Gesichtern, die uns anblicken und einladen, Teil dieser Gemeinschaft zu werden. Frieden muss keine Utopie bleiben, sondern kann als lebendige Gemeinschaft existieren – getragen von gegenseitiger Offenheit und Ehrlichkeit, sichtbar in einem Spiel aus Farbe, Form und Beziehung.

Jetzt feiern wir die stetig wachsende Ausstellung mit einem Abend voller Begegnungen. Mit Künstler:innen aus Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syrien, Israel, USA, Mexiko, Brasilien, Island, Niederlande, Frankreich, Deutschland u.a.

Mehr als die Hälfte der 26 ausstellenden Künstler:innen werden am 3.10. anwesend sein.

Und mit etwas Stolz dürfen wir mitteilen – Schirmherr unserer wachsenden Ausstellung ist Sven Lehmann, er ist Vorsitzender im Ausschuss Kultur und Medien im Deutschen Bundestag.

Die wachsende Ausstellung ist bis ins Jahr 2026 hinein immer sonntags 15-18 Uhr geöffnet.
