Good Morning! ☀

Here's a little #tbt to our event with Nigel Travis ☕ and Philadelphia Business Journal at the National Museum of American Jewish History
-
We threw this event in 2019 and it was a great success. About a year before our event Nigel had released a book called, "The Challenge Culture, Why The Most Successful Organizations Run on Pushback".
-
As the former CEO of the Dunkin' Brands Group, Nigel came with a lot of insight. Getting to dive deep and glean some of that insight and experience was truly an honor! He is truly a luminary!

When you find out that one of your most transformative moments is on the front page of @createxchange new site! 🥹🥹🥹 (Peep the cut by @amitcorso too!)

I always say holding space for someone is the greatest gift we can give, but what I didn’t expect from this moment was that the gift retuned tenfold. @esglaude is a living example of his practice. His transparency, contemplativeness, and commitment to American pragmatism ushered in an awakening for so many on this past Juneteenth. Oh, what a gift to be seen, heard, and honored! Oh, what a gift to bear witness to someone on their quest to be whole! It gave so many of us permission to look inward and tell the truth about who we claim ourselves to be, both individually and collectively. It gave us permission to commit to liberation.

➡️➡️➡️Thank you, @voices_underground for your continued work to amplify voices. Thank you, @esglaude for answering the call and bearing witness in these after times.

🎙️🎙️🎙️Won’t you take a listen to his podcast/audio documentary, “History is Us,” to witness the power of compassionate curiosity within a historical context? Let’s continue to do the work to remain awake.

It’s not a bad thing to want to be a successful creative. The world will tell you that it’s foolish to pursue a life of creativity. But it turns out that it was just that foolishness that led me to live the life I’m living today. A wonderfully creative life full of possibilities. Ignore the narrative that you need to a serious job. Deny the shame that tries to come up when you consider forging your own path. Embrace your creative superpowers and challenge the notion that you are just another “normal person.” You will change the world.

Join us at the GROW Creative Leadership Summit where you will:

EMBRACE your unique authenticity as a Creative Leader,

SHARPEN your insight about what makes you a one-of-a-kind artist,

& CHALLENGE what it means to lead with your Creative Superpowers

so that you can help other humans live better lives.

This 2-day live event (with replay access after!) is jam packed with some of the best speakers and artists and creative leaders to help you sharpen your creative leadership skills. The event is valued at $495 but I’ve slashed that to $197! And guess what, because I love you, you can use the code BOLDPLACES at checkout to get in for $147! Link to register in my bio!

How does it feel when I tell you that I believe you—with all of your creative ingenuity—will change the world?

What comes up for you?

Take a minute and check in with yourself about this idea.

What do you think when you hear that?

What do you want to do with that information?

Is your response "hell, yeah, that's me!" or is it more a desire to run away and hide?

I have the privilege of working with many people just like you. And when I work with people like you, they often tell me that they're not really sure what difference they can make in the world because they're just another artist, just another teacher, just another student, just another parent, just another "normal" person.

Do you feel that way, too?

The fact that you are creative in the ways that you are can be the difference between things staying the same and things becoming radically different.

You are in the BEST damn position to change culture and society. Seriously. Stand up and get ready to put on your Creative Superhero cape and your big person panties and discover how your art, your creative genius, your superpowers are a catalyst for explosive growth in your world.

When other people are afraid to try something different, it's your freaking job as a Creative Leader to step in and take the risks. Then guess what happens? Everyone else follows.

Every once in a while, though, we need to pump the brakes and take a look at other perspectives and have new conversations with other creative leaders so that we can join creative forces.

This is why you NEED to come to the GROW Creative Leadership Summit.

This stellar event is the shit because you will learn more about how to make the world better in some kick-ass, ground-breaking, mind-shifting ways.

Let me tell you - by the time this event is over, your superpower muscles will be so swoll you won't know what to do with yourself. I mean, come on. You know how whack the past few years have been and we're all feeling burnt the f out. It's time to brush off the soot, break out your brightest red cap and transform into the Creative Leader you truly are.

Our kids are in institutions instead of embracing their playful freedom. Learn how to break them free.

Our world likes to hide behind labels of "trauma informed" but ends up causing more trauma in return. Let's figure out another way.

We feign sympathy and can't find empathy. Find it here.

We don't know how to talk to one another and see each other as partners in creative life. Find your creative collaborator.

We get stuck in the capitalistic hellscape that is our economy. Let's figure out how to turn it on its head.

Neighbors are fighting neighbors and communities are crumbling. Discover how to intervene and bring resolution to the conflict.

Our friends feel hopeless and can't find a way forward. You know their strengths and their value. Develop a way to show them what you see.

Sometimes you even feel stuck. Pick yourself up and create your own damn opportunities.

Let me tell you- I’m seriously sick and tired of the navel gazing , the complaining, the “oh, there’s nothing we can actually do to change the situation(s) we find ourselves in.”

Get a grip. You know damn well that as a creative person, you’re in the BEST damn position to change culture and society. Seriously. Stand up and get ready to put on your Creative Superheor cape and your big person panties and discover how to use your art, your creative genius, your superpowers as a catalyst for explosive growth in your world.

Don’t tell me I’m wrong. I’ve seen you out there leading the pack with your ingenuity.

Every once in a while, though, we need to pump the brakes and take a look at other perpsectives and have new conversations with other creative leaders so that we can join creative forces. This Summit is where you get to do that.

What is your purpose?

That's a big question, I know. Trust me.

It's a question that I've asked myself over and over again over the years. And in addition to that, another question comes to mind: how do I accomplish that purpose?

Have you pondered these questions, too?

Yeah?

Good.

I'm not alone.

For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to a couple of things. First, helping people grow and thrive. Secondly, communicating messages and bringing people together to tell a story.

I guess it's no surprise, then, that I ended up becoming an artist AND a therapist and educator.

Over the past couple of years, I guess really since the Pandemic, I have been hearing the refrain that us artists and creatives need to step up and take more serious action (as if that could be possible -- I mean, come on...artists are the change agents of society!) to help heal and make whole our neighborhoods, communities, and world.

I started to approach a bunch of people in my circles who are doing that work in a variety of ways; day-in, day-out. I asked them to participate in an event called the GROW Creative Placemaking Summit. And, lucky me (us!), many of them said yes!

This Summit is an ideation, conversation, and empowerment event that is geared toward teaching you, equipping you, and sending you back out into the world to use your Creative Superpower Quotient (CSQ 😉) in powerful ways so that the "after times" are better than the "during times," and definitely better than the "before times" of the Pandemic.

Your CSQ is your Creative Genius, your artistry, your human empathy, your knowledge and your unique approach to life. At the GROW Creative Placemaking Summit, you'll hear from so many leading experts in the fields of creativity, education, placemaking, human development, and more, so you can sharpen your CSQ and make a BOLD impact on the world around you.

Will you join me and a bunch of kick-ass folx at the Summit on Nov. 3 and 4? It's online, so you don't have to leave home AND you receive access to recordings afterward so you can replay all the tidbits that you just need to hear again!
