In honor of Suicide Prevention Month I decided it was time to share my story. On December 30th, 2022 I was so lost and had endured so much suffering in my lifetime that I just wanted it all to stop, I felt like my life had no value and wasn’t worth continuing. By the grace of God my attempt was unsuccessful and I was given a second chance at life.

For months after, I lived in a state of uncertainty. My quality of life was low and I was in such a state of depression that it was hard to see any positives to getting another chance. On September 12th, 2023 my life was completely changed. I moved in with my dad and stepmom and that’s when I finally was able to understand why I got another try at life.

I learned that it was okay to ask for help and not have to keep everything inside until you can’t anymore and that you should never have to be embarrassed about how you feel. But most importantly I learned that blood doesn’t make you family, love does. I’m forever grateful for everyone that took me in and was there for me in the darkest time of my life, and even still today.

Just months after moving in I started therapy and medication to help with all of the big feelings and emotions I was having. It was great being able to finally talk to someone about my story without having to feel guilty or embarrassed about it. I’m also glad to share that after just 2 years of being on my medication that by the end of this month I will officially be done with it and I have never been so happy and grateful to be able to live this life.

I hope that my story is able to give you some hope and help you understand that it’s okay to need and ask for help and it’s nothing you should ever be ashamed of. So in honor of this month, here are some of my favorite moments with my favorite people that I’m forever grateful I get to experience!
