AUGUST WRAP UP 🌊☀️

I missed you all so much! I took a much-needed mental health break and I feel so much better.

I read 8 books this month and found new favorites (like… why did it take me so long to read Deep End? Ms. Ali Hazelwood, I AM OBSESSED).

I also wanted to talk a bit about perfectionism. Like many of you, I started this bookstagram for fun, to share my love of books and connect with people who felt the same passion. In the beginning, I WAS HAVING SO MUCH FUN!! I was meeting new friends online and at book events, connecting with authors, and honestly, it was such a blast.

This summer though, something shifted. I started to feel pressure to overperform here, and posting made me anxious. I put so much pressure on myself that it stopped feeling happy to post, and to read. I was even SCARED to post. Listening to the @creativeeditionpodcast by @emmasedition really helped me put my feelings into words. At the end of the day, this is just social media, and it’s up to us to have fun with it. It doesn’t need to be perfect, because life isn’t perfect, no matter what it looks like online.

So if you’ve made it this far into my spiel, remember this: bookstagram is for fun, and there’s always space for you here. LOVE YOU ALL.

She did a guest lecture with my students and mentioned she was interested in teaching, so we HAD to dive deeper.
