Today on Earth Day, we’re thinking about our artisan partners we in Ecuador and the land that makes their work possible.

The plant fiber they harvest, the plants used for dyes, the rhythms of their days - all begin with nature 🌀

For many of our artisan partners, caring for the earth isn’t a “should” — It’s daily life. It’s respect passed between generations. It’s knowledge carried in their hands. Their work inspires us and reminds us that making things slowly, thoughtfully, and in relationship with the land is one small way we can protect what protects us 🌍🌎🌏

We’re grateful to learn from them every day and for your support to make it possible. Happy Earth Day, everyday.

This is where most of the Minga magic happens — In Ecuador, in the studio and out in nature where our artisan partners call home. We are so grateful for the chance to work with such beautiful people and in such a special place in the world.

Some of the most transformative experiences of my life happened in the last few years. They didn’t involve alcohol or drugs, they didn’t involve some meditative trance or extreme activity. They simply centered on authentic connection with other women. In most cases, I didn’t know these women, I didn’t know their life story and all the little pieces that made them who they are. But nonetheless, we had something in common- we were all women living in that moment, in this life, on this earth. And we didn’t really need to know much more than that. As women, our hearts speak to each other and we can offer love and support and admiration and inspiration and grace and kindness without needing to know the story behind it all.

This retreat is meant as a way forward into that kind of connection with our sisters in humanity. We would love to have you join…and bring a friend, a sister, an acquaintance. Designing our own hats this week on our @creativeescapetrips women’s creative retreat in Ecuador 🤍 Our guest @hillfed captured the essence of this workshop perfectly— lots of laughs, collaboration, learning and consideration of craft and the process that goes into each and every creation that comes out of Zoila and Carlos’s family-run hat shop. We only run this special trip once a year to visit our artisan partners and learn about the beautiful and traditional craft that this amazing country and culture has to offer.
