Learn from my mistake: this rule cost me a shot at an IBJJF title. 🫠

It's Pans 2025... I'm in my opponent's guard. She stands up, I pull right away.

Under @ibjjf rules (Articles 4.1.5 + 4.6.1), if you haven't both been standing for 3 seconds, that's not a guard pull... It's a sweep, FOR HER... These ✌️ points tied the scoreboard. Ref decision, Bronze for M1 Heavy Division.

So if they stand up: count to three before you pull.

Check us out! We are a women’s only grappling camp held in Fort Worth, Texas February 5-6, 2027.

We are excited to present our instructors @kendallreusing @kari_genesisbjj @ms_daemonette and @mendicarlson_bjj for 2027.

Registration is limited as we want to provide an intimate setting where the student to instructor ratio is perfect. We want to create space for great jiujitsu and awesome connections.

Ultimately, Jiu-jitsu has been one of those sports and hobbies that allows me to honestly express myself and grow in a way I didn't know possible.

These 2 years at Black Belt have led to me meeting, competing, and training with some truly great people.

I can't wait to keep training, getting better, competing and hanging out with cool people.

One of the hardest and most meaningful moments of my career happened this past weekend.

After winning my quarterfinal, I had to face one of the best friends Jiu-Jitsu has given me: Gui.

We met in 2018. Back then, I was just starting my competition journey, while Gui was already a phenomenon, winning everything. Since then, we’ve shared so much: closing out tournaments as blue belts, living together, and going through different seasons of life. He even changed weight classes many times so we wouldn’t have to fight each other.

But this time, we both needed that Pan American title. Neither of us wanted to fight, but we understood it was the only fair way. So we stepped on the mat and gave everyone a true war.

He won, and once again, I fell short in the Pan American semifinals for the third year in a row. Of course, I was disappointed, but seeing my brother advance to the final and chase his dream made me genuinely happy.

God keeps reminding me that His timing is not mine. He has taught me something beyond Jiu-Jitsu: to love the process and genuinely celebrate the victories of the people I love, even when I’m still waiting for my own moment.

I may not be where I want to be yet, but I trust God’s plan and timing.

I love you, brother! Proud of our story and everything we’ve been through together. ❤️

Now drop to featherweight for Worlds, because I wanna see both of us winning on each division 🤣❤️

The side of competition we don’t like but we must face. When you are so close to your goal but someone is just a step closer. Then you ask yourself “why”. We might not know the “why” but stick around for the “HOW.”
- “How can I improve?”
It’s part of sports. It’s part of life. I don’t need anyone to feel sorry for me, shoot I don’t even need anyone to believe in me. As long as God believes in my abilities and I give him the glory.
