A few days after their last interaction, Mercedes happens upon Silas @creativexdreamer nose deep in a book... which, for Silas, is incredibly unusual.

He's just an old softie.

Circa 2150 CE. Mercedes has been home for a few days now. The stragglers she brought with her have moved on, leaving her to reacquaint herself with the Estate and its current inhabitants.

One morning, she sees Silas in the library speaking to a young man with startling features: long reddish blond hair, one eye striking blue, the other grey. The young man resembled Silas, down to the arrogant posture, but those eyes... they belonged to another.

Mercedes is struck with a pang of sadness, but politely waits until the two are done speaking. The boy leaves and Silas turns to see his patron standing behind him. His face twists in pain and Mercy catches his hand.

"Toki. He's near a man now." Her voice soft, acknowledging the passing of time without directly addressing the reason for the elder vampire's expression.

Silas looks down. "He wants to make an attempt to become pack leader. They don't... appreciate his mixed lineage."

The woman is silent a moment, then squeezes her warlock's hand.

(+CLOSED STORYLINE/DUET+) Year circa 2150. Mercedes has come home to the Stray Hearts Estate after being gone a century and a half. Rumors are spreading like wildfire across the Realmspace as to what happened to her in her absence, especially after the events of the dinner earlier that week.

(+ CLOSED STORYLINE/DUET for @therealcinnafloofsedona @ashley_lynn_2620 @creativexdreamer @adda_the_oc_hoarder +) After that very uncomfortable dinner, Mercedes is approached by another familiar face, who expresses their concern over her disappearance after the events of A Reaper's Tale.

Mercedes immediately dismisses their words, but it is evident in her eyes that whatever she found wherever she had gone... much was still missing.

Atonement and repair can take centuries... but sometimes we find a certain peace in the present, neither burdened by the past nor looking to uncertain futures.

Circa 2150 CE. The masked figure pulls Mercedes to her feet, brow crinkling with concern as soft carnelian eyes gaze down at her.

"You haven't changed... maybe more tattoos. But still beautiful, still my Lotus..."

Mercedes looks at her companion, hands gripping their arms tightly. "Ignus... my lord."

That name used to hold so much bitterness, so much pain and sadness. Much like the portrait still hanging in Silas' art room, it is something that has defined much of her existence. But now, she lets the syllables slip from her tongue with the breathlessness of a schoolgirl's crush. "How do you come to be here?"

"I think you know why." Ignus Chrom, last Seraph of the Crimson Oni, and a Multiverse variant of the one who changed Mercedes all those centuries ago, studied her with eyes full of unknown emotion.

She sucked in a breath, visibly steadying herself. "I can't do it..."

"You can. More than that, you must. But you will not do it alone."

The auburn haired woman pulls away, her golden eyes dimming under the weight of pain and shame she has carried for a long time.

"Pipe dreams..."

"My lady...?" Silas' voice carries softly across the gardens, the long haired vampire approaching with hands in trouser pockets. "Oh, my lord Seraph. Welcome to the Estate. I'll have the servants set another place at the table, if you're staying."

Chrom nods, still holding Mercy's arms. Silas glances between the two of them, aware he's interrupting something, but detecting his Patron's gratefulness in her silence.

"Dinner is ready."

As of now, any and all videos present or future with my partner in them will remain untagged on Tiktok. He can be found elsewhere under the same handle.

She has finally deposed her Father. She has spent time, energy, magic on rebuilding the Realm of Muspelheim and the trust between her and the Æsir and Vanir deities. She's finally taken her place in the Tapestry... for whom or what would she risk everything and return to Midgard?

Almost 200 years ago, Mercedes was on the other side of this argument.

She had destroyed it all. Burnt it all to ashes. She brought it all back, and is rebuilding what was lost.

Sometimes destruction is necessary. But there will always be consequences. Growth can hurt more than erasure. Hoping, only to be let down again and again, can hurt more than the anger.

But if kept alive, that tiny spark of hope can reach more tiny lights. Nurture it, let it keep the darkness at bay. You will find more lights.

Destruction is sometimes necessary, but it's easy. Our resilience and strength comes from keeping hope alive and building good things together.

(+CLOSED STORYLINE+) Sevana @ladysevana is bitter towards Silas @creativexdreamer and the remaining Stray Hearts. Wild magic took her partner and her home, while her erstwhile companion of times past seems to have come up in the world.

Well, Mercedes has some words for that. What's done is done. Let it hurt, then move forward. The blessing is you're still here. We can either choose to grow, or we can rot in our stagnation.

One day, she will tell the whole story... about how she unseated her Father and took the throne of Muspelheim... for now, a lesson in trust.

⚠️Flash/Strobe Warning⚠️ (+CLOSED STORYLINE: spoilers undisclosed from A Reaper's Tale project+) Circa 2150 CE. Mercedes walks the Shadow Gardens of her former home. Silas' words ring in her mind, at once a mournful plea and an accusation.

She is reminded of those now gone: the ones who moved on, the ones who changed, the one who died. She is reminded of the battles fought, the sacrifices made. Some losses too heavy to live with, so loved ones left to find peace elsewhere. She is reminded that she died, and died again.

A reminder that she destroyed everything... and those that remained are still picking up the pieces in her wake.

"Oh fuck..." Mercedes falls to her knees in the middle of the path, overcome with anguish and grief.

"Even a goddess can be overcome, then..." A voice like velvet, both familiar and alien, pulls her from the spiral. Mercedes looks up into crimson eyes, the masked visage kneeling before her in the dirt. The eyes crinkle slightly, the face smiling beneath the half mask. "Hello, my beloved Lotus. I have missed you."

[OPEN DUET] "Silas, you didn't call for me?"

The adventurers and Lainie sit, watching the interaction between Mercedes and the one she called Silas. There seem to be many unknowns surrounding both the golden eyed lady's identity and her presence, that even her own friends could not answer.

"My lady, it's been over a century. You've been ruling a kingdom and whatever else a goddess fills her time with. And I've been... we've been picking up the pieces."

Silas' eyes fade to blue again, his gaze belonging to one who had their heart broken. Mercedes visibly blanched, the first real expression she's made since the party have met her.

"Jeg er så innmari lei meg, mine kjære. I am so very sorry, my darlings. It was never my intention to abandon you..." Her voice is soft, almost forlorn. Lainie leans over and wraps the other woman in a gentle embrace.

Silas is silent for a moment, before clearing his throat and flicking his gaze over the others. "What's done is done, and you're here now. You've come home. That's what matters. We'll have rooms made up for your guests. Dinner is at seven."

With that, he turns on his heel and leaves the room.

Sevana watches Silas leave, her eyes narrowed. Grease, his fey companion, and their masked cohort seem more excited about a free meal than anything else.

Mercedes sits on the settee, staring at the old oil painting.

Circa 2150 CE. The man lets Mercedes go, then turns and ushers everyone inside the mansion. The adventurers look around in awe, save Sevana, who remembers the glamour and glitz of another life. High vaulted ceilings, crystal chandeliers, oak floors polished to a sheen... the mansion is old, at least 400 years or so, with features in its design not seen in architecture for at least the past 50 years.

The man and green-eyed woman lead the group to a room adorned in greens and golds. There are easels in various places with half finished works of art, most in the same style and charcoal medium. Over the mantel is a very large oil painting of a couple... the adventurers have double takes when they realize one of the people pictured is Mercedes herself, in a very old style of dress. The dark man with her gazes into the room with crimson eyes that glitter with cunning and quiet malice.

Mercedes takes a seat on one of the settees, her eyes flicking to the oil painting before settling on their host. "You kept it?"

"Not sure what I should do with it," he replied. "Haven't really changed anything here." The woman Mercedes had addressed as Lainie sits beside her, turning her attention to the other four and gesturing for them to sit.

"Mercy, not that I'm not happy to see you - you know I'm absolutely thrilled you're back - but what's happened? Why now?" The man looked on Mercedes with something akin to concern, his blue-grey eyes turning golden to match hers.

Mercedes gazed into the air before her with unfocused eyes before turning her head to study her newer companions. "I felt a call... I thought--" She stops abruptly.

"Silas, you didn't call for me?"
