Miami artist Pablo Cano brought his signature magic to @nsuartmuseum with a special performance of Side Show. 🎭✨

This nostalgic journey featured Cano’s intricate, hand-crafted marionettes brought to life alongside vintage records and soulful live vocals.

The experience began on the museum steps, where two massive sculptures made of found objects stopped traffic—literally! The 10-minute first act even drew in crowds from across Las Olas Blvd at the newly renovated Huizenga Park before the audience headed inside for the theatrical finale.

Yesterday at Ironside Miami was one of those synchronized moments that reminds us how beautiful it is to witness someone that lives and breathes into their creative passion

I went to support Robin Hill and I arrived late ( or just in time) …he graciously gifted me a copy of his “ The Way I see it” … and I’m still taking it in.
We later spent time with him, his lovely wife @crickettaplin ( his number one fan)and friends ..

It’s substantial in every sense… thick, colorful pages, a stunning hardcover, playful, artistic, and full of his unmistakable perspective and English Wit .

Robin has always had a remarkable way of seeing architecture… not just as structures, but as living moments shaped by light, timing, and mostly human presence.
This book feels like an extension of that eye… and of him.
Personal, thoughtful, and deeply intentional.

What moved me most was seeing this chapter unfold for him. Turning years of observation, discipline, and passion into something you can hold in your hands is no small thing…

I’m truly happy for you, @robinhillphoto This is beautiful and well deserved.

If you have the chance, visit his bio and reach out to get a copy before they’re gone. It’s more than a book… it’s a piece of his journey, and it’s timeless because it dives into Miami’s public art installations — HUNDREDS …. Thousands !

Thank you for the gift…
and for continuing to inspire us to see taking a deeper look.

Just wow. “That’s the Way I See It”by Robin Hill is a profound and deeply personal meditation on Miami’s public art—seen through the eyes of an artist who truly sees. This beautiful book captures “Sky of the First Water” in all its spirit and motion.

“…The genesis of this piece was an act of liberation. Standing on the rooftop, Tommerup released a great canvas into the air—like a poet of chance—allowing it to dance freely on the wind. Then, in an act of alchemy, the canvas was divided into fragments, each piece becoming part of this sacred whole—a system of touch and texture, born from that wind and anchored to the earth.”
- Robin Hill

So honored to have this work included.
Endless thanks to Cricket Taplin and Robin Hill for your vision, Alistair Gordon for your inspired essay contribution and editor Amanda Keeley!

It makes you want to run out and experience all the public art woven into the fabric of this city.

Special acknowledgement to the whole outstanding team @artinpublicplacesmdc that made this permanent mural, Sky of the First Water, 2022 in Coconut Grove possible,
courtesy of Miami-Dade Art in Public Places Trust.

And to @loriemertes @locustprojects who offered the initial platform to develop the canvas liberation projects #madebydusk

“that’s the way i see it” - Miami’s Public art through a unique lens is my love letter to the eclectic and extraordinary collection of Public Art in Miami that has blossomed here over the last 50 years. Featuring 50 outstanding works of Public Art scattered across Miami-Dade County, the book includes works by well known artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Ed Ruscha and Isamu Noguchi as well as a host of lesser known but equally talented artists. Using a technique known as Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) my photographs of these artworks stretch the boundaries of interpretation and into the realm of transformation. Published by EXILE books - a boutique and adventurous publishing house, with a foreword by prominent author and critic, Alastair Gordon, this book explores a personality trait of the Magic City which is both fun, creative and educational. Written in a language that is distinctly not ‘artspeak’ - the text tells entertaining stories and imaginative vignettes where the author often finds himself in conversation with the artworks. Featuring 240 pages and over 100 full color photographs, this unique book makes for an excellent addition to both your coffee table and library.
You can order the book by clicking the link in bio or visiting www.robinhillfineart.com

@locustprojects’ Benefit Dinner, “The Ripple Effect”, celebrated the transformative contributions of honorees Sheldon & Florence Anderson and Diane & Werner Grob to the arts and Miami’s community. ✨

Held on November 23rd, the event immersed 120 guests in an installation by renowned artist @alexandrearrechea, reflecting the metaphor of ripples created by a skipping stone. Guests enjoyed kinetic sound art by @albatrianastudio, a Japanese-inspired dinner experience designed by Arrechea and Le Basque, and an auction supporting Locust’s Summer Art Intensive for Teens.

Supporters and sponsors, including the Arison Foundation and @knightfdn, joined a distinguished guest list to raise funds sustaining Locust Projects’ 26-year mission. By blending art, philanthropy, and innovation, the evening highlighted the enduring power of creativity to inspire change and community connection.

This is the exhibition where I participate as “artist” with 4 pieces. It’s only a 3-day pop up show this weekend, starting on Friday with the opening from 6 to 10 PM. I hope you all can attend. I was informed that for the opening it’s best to register following the link for the event. Who would have thought that an accident would have put me on the other side of the artist-viewer equation! As one of my objects indicates, sometimes impasses turn into opportunities. Please come, would be great to see you.
