A 911 call ten years after a mother disappeared. A retraction the very next day.

Nancy Moyer disappeared from Tenino, Washington, in March 2009. In July 2019, Eric Lee Roberts reportedly called 911 and claimed responsibility for her death. He then withdrew those statements.

That call did not bring Nancy home. Her daughters still deserve answers about what happened to their mom.

Kourtney and I cover Nancy’s disappearance and the investigation that followed on The Final Hours. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

On March 6th, 2009, 36-year-old Nancy Moyer vanished from her home in Tenino, Washington, leaving behind a scene that still haunts investigators. Two days later, her ex-husband arrived with their daughters to find her front door cracked open, the television still playing, and her car parked outside. Her purse, keys, and belongings were untouched, and sitting on her coffee table were TWO wine glasses, one of them half-finished. Around the time investigators believe she disappeared, a neighbor reportedly heard a hurried female voice, car doors slamming, and someone saying, “Hurry up, let’s get going.” And after this, Nancy was never seen again.

But somehow, the story gets even more disturbing. Just over a year later, a woman named Vanda Skau Boone was brutally murdered by Bernard Howell III, a man who lived less than a mile from Nancy’s home. And then, in July 2019, Nancy’s neighbor, Eric Lee Roberts, called 911 and confessed to killing her, even leading investigators to a concrete fire pit on his property where he suggested a body could be hidden. But just ONE day later, he took EVERYTHING back. Investigators searched his property, found no human remains, and no murder charges were ever filed.

More than 17 years later, Nancy Moyer has never been found. And whatever happened inside that house on that cold March night remains a terrifying mystery.
