Our deepest gratitude to Cristina Moraes, Client Services Specialist, for her remarkable work with us over the years. Cris was a strong advocate for artists both inside and outside of Creative Growth. Always ready to interpret for our Deaf community and translate for Spanish-speaking artists, Cris had a gift for communicating with ALL the artists. Maintaining contact with over 140 artists and their caregivers, while documenting and reporting, is no easy feat, but Cris found ways to humanize a bureaucratic process and make it accessible to everyone. ⠀
⠀
"Cris came from a fashion background, and when artists would want to do complicated textile projects, she would show up like my saving angel and give suggestions and they'd always work out so beautifully." — Veronica Rojas, Studio Instructor⠀
⠀
"She’s a really good person and I hope she has good luck." — Juan Aguilera, Artist⠀
⠀
Cris, we all wish you the best on your next venture—you will be missed dearly! ♾️💗@crishakti #CGStaffAppreciation ⠀

Image descriptions in alt text. Cristina Moraes, a woman with long brown hair and a hand-painted dress, stands in front of a gallery wall. On the left is a framed painting of a woman with short brown hair and yellow eyes staring straight ahead with a straight face. Her dress is bright green and the background is painted solid neon orange. On the right is a framed painting of a shirtless man looking to the right, also with a straight face. His hair is gold, eyes are yellow, and there are two blue stars tattooed on his right arm. The background is painted solid neon green. The back of the gallery wall is covered in paintings of white clouds with faces wearing pink rosy cheeks and green diamonds painted over eyes that are looking up to the sky.

Our Studio staff has been working around the clock finding innovative ways to safely connect with Creative Growth artists during shelter in place. Our virtual studio programming has been growing and we now have 2-4 online workshops per day! Sessions include Life Drawing, Textiles, Watercolor Painting, Digital Media, Dream Art, Drawing from Nature, Poetry, and Sculpture. We also have much-needed social time during Tea Time and Bingo, and address our wellness during Yoga, Meditation, and Dance Classes. Our Youth Program and Visiting Artist Program have also found ways to thrive online. During this busy weekly schedule, Studio staff also orchestrate art supply deliveries and artwork pick-ups to ensure Creative Growth artists' practices continue to flourish despite the lack of access to our Studio. ⠀
⠀
We are so grateful to have such an adaptable staff who are taking on new roles in this pandemic to be sure our community is supported! Visit the link in bio to make a contribution to Creative Growth programming during shelter in place. #CGStaffAppreciation

Thank you so much @creativegrowth for inviting me to host 2 days of jewelry making workshops with the artists!! That was so fun and everyone there has such epic talent and vision. Looking forward to more magical collaboration in the future and the #beyondtrend fashion show that all these will be worn in coming up in April!! Creative Growth is an art center for differently abled adults and my favorite, do yourself a favor and look into their amazing organization! 🌸

We kept the farewell party going for @iambecki tonight! “For over 15 years Becki has been a transformative leader at Creative Growth, first in our gallery then with our artists and staff. Leadership isn’t about being the most visible, it’s about supporting so many people who do the incredible work that takes place at Creative Growth everyday. Becki is the kind of leader whose selfless investment in our artists and staff yields amazing returns. All of us wish her well on her next amazing journey!” - Tom di Maria
