Beautiful weekend with the boys

The @ceinitiative’s CEI Spark program has come to an end, and I’m so grateful to have participated in this once-in-a-lifetime exchange opportunity. I haven’t posted many photos of the students out of privacy concerns, but it’s no overstatement to say that working with them has changed my life: seeing people of various ages, passions, and backgrounds take time out of their summer vacations (and in some cases, their full-time jobs!) to throw themselves into the deep-end of an immersive English learning bootcamp has triggered a mental reset. I’m inspired, leaving with the desire to work harder and to double-down more on my interests - even when it’s not easy and the path isn’t so straightforward.

That’s to say nothing of the facilitators, with their broad spectrum of backgrounds, Japanese language ability, careers, ages, and passions. I truly think I’ve made some friends for life on this program, and cannot thank the program coordinators at CEI for making this program possible. Here’s to more Japanese language learning, more sake exploration, more culinary excursions, more personal-project blogging, and more intentional, challenging living in the future. Until the next trip or until the next glass ー完敗・かんぱい・kanpai！

Had fun with the rail yesterday before the cops came and shut us down. Be on the lookout from us for information coming about a petition aiming to give skateboarders fair treatment on campus
