I'm teaching a couple of workshops on 13 and 14 at Brightwells creative space in Farnham exploring the craft of crochet in traditional and more experimental ways. Come and join me in a small group setting. £35 per session. Link in bio to book or message me.

This is part of the events to celebrate Farnham Craft Month.

Crochet has been part of my art practice from the start.

Apologies for the shaky video, this is not my forte.

Lucked out with the weather at the Wetland Centre in Barnes yesterday. Shown around by my bestie (and former volunteer) @crogemcrochet Treated to some spectacular sights. Although there's no wildfowl visible in this particular scene! A beautiful, peaceful haven in this wonderful city. One of the many reasons I love living in London #londonwildlife #wwtlondonwetlandcentre #londonliving

🌿 The making of "In The Shelter of the Sailing Eye" sculpture at @hawleycommunitygarden 🌿

Last Saturday, we've unveiled the sculpture at Hawley Community Garden, which we've been creating as part of The Places That Link Us project.

Huge thanks to everyone involved in making this beautiful structure a reality -

🌿 Everyone who joined us at the Mayfield Community Centre to crochet the baskets together. Every single basket you made has been incorporated and planted up with herbs, flowers, or spring bulbs, making it a living sculpture.

🌿 Local artists, Dave and Gemma @crogemcrochet, who stepped in to help us with the building, planting and putting the crucial final crochet touches at the end.

🌿 Hawley Garden members who not only trusted us by proving the space for the sculpture but also cleared and tidied up the site.

The sculpture is a reflection on the garden as a place of refuge, care, and imagination, and a celebration of the creativity of our community.

This creation was made possible through the funding from Farnborough Airport Community Environmental Fund and Pride in Place Grant/ UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

🌿 The Places That Link Us at @hawleycommunitygarden Harvest Fest this Saturday, September 13th 🌿

11am - 3pm

Gemma @crogemcrochet will be running our crafts stall, inviting everyone to get creative with natural materials.

She's been joining us at various events throughout the summer, and, together with another local artist, Dave, helped us complete the "In the Shelter of the Sailing Eye" sculpture for the garden.

On the day, don't forget to visit the sculpture, conceived by @btouatievans, and also join me on a Hawley Garden Creature Trail to explore who lives in the garden.

This event is part of Rushmoor Heritage Fest.

The Places That Link Us visited the Eco Explorers Club in Aldershot last Saturday.

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by!

There was a giant stag beetle puppet flying around the tent, a very clever crow who figured out how to drink water from a vase, lots of stone painting, colouring, and creating a beautiful garden from natural materials - all of which brought a touch of natural world to the town centre.

We also loved chatting to some of you about the new community garden, which is going to be built at the back of @westendcentre this autumn.

Many thanks to @crogemcrochet for facilitating the crafts,
@mgrstorytelling for great collaboration and company, and the Eco Explorers crew for their help and support!

The Places That Link Us is supported by Farnborough Airport Community Environmental Fund and Pride in Place/ UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

If you’re looking for colour inspiration for your next project- just take a look around you. It’s there, right in front of you if you know how to look. 🙌

Gemma @crogemcrochet has taken inspiration for her Homage to the Granny Square blanket from a beautiful garden design created by @sarahpricelandscapes for the 2023 @chelseaflowershow.

The amazing photographs of the garden are by @clarecoulson - and the yarn Gemma’s working with is @rowanyarns Rowan Felted Tweed. 💕

I’m always excited to see how course members interpret their original inspiration and I know this one will be absolutely stunning! 💥

The link to book on the next course is in my bio 😊
