If you are in Munich - Resistant Faces, curated by Jana Johanna Haeckel @janjoane is finally open to the public at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich after much anticipation. I’m showing several works from the “Someone Tried to Lock up Time” series including this new work titled, Walking on the Moon. In this work the idea was to create a three dimensional portrait through sequential movement by capturing a face on 16mm film which was shot in single frames. The portrait was shot using color filters and double exposed over stop motion footage of the moon as its movement around the earth changed its location in the frame. The painted wall gradient is a sunset or a sunrise. After all that’s how humans go to know time exists.

We’re so grateful for this community. Last night we had so much fun celebrating our 5 years anniversary, playing games and getting to know new faces. ⁣
⁣
While we wish we could have celebrated in person, we’re thankful for all of those who attended last night and had a blast. ⁣
⁣
And as a reminder, our auction is still running until December 18th. We have some amazing items up for bid and all proceeds go to NYC Women Filmmakers, which is 100% volunteer run and will allow us to give micro-grants to filmmakers in 2021. You can check out the auction via link in our bio. ⁣
⁣
Thank you all, again! ⁣

Our June STREAMING program launches today with the online premieres of two short shorts: CUBA SCALDS HIS HAND by Abby Sun & Daniel Garber and THE ONLY THING I LOVE MORE THAN YOU IS RANCH DRESSING by Sydney Clara Brafman. They're two very different shorts, one a docs about a cowboy named Cuba and the other, a genre short about, well, you'll see. Very proud to share both on FOFIF - click the link in bio to watch now! .

CUBA SCALDS HIS HAND (directed by @abbypsun & @dsgarber)

His name is Naudy Exposito, but while working in the overwhelmingly white Wyoming rodeo circuit, everyone calls him Cuba. A kinetic and humorous glimpse of a man just trying to do his job, the film rides along with Cuba, who fits the rodeo cowboy stereotype no better than he fits into his ill-fated Japanese mini-truck. After a sudden injury, Cuba’s masculine dreams collide with the reality that even the most undignified accidents can be quite painful. .

THE ONLY THING I LOVE MORE THAN YOU IS RANCH DRESSING (directed by @crooklyncat)

Limited run: May 28 - June 8 "Ranch. Dipped. Chicken. Fingers." #futureoffilmisfemale #futureoffilmisfemalestreaming

🖤 #tbt to the beginning of the month when myself, @5carsondascene, and @crooklyncat were turned into a New Yorker Cartoon illustration (thanks to @lizadonnelly) during our "Woman and Horror" talk at @athenafilmfest. At this moment, we were poised to take March / Women's Month by storm with our Striking series @nitehawkcinema, shorts panel "Short Film Night" organized by @_natgee, and the Womxn Own It Summit by @nymediacenter but within a week, it's all changed.

So while we're starting on with at #tbt, it's time for us to take that pause and really consider the future of film in all ways. We're huddling close with our FOFIF family and thinking of ways to stay connected with you all as we face these unforeseen challenges.
Ironically, we were about to launch (seriously, moments from doing so) a campaign to help us fund more connective experiences with women filmmakers. Now, I guess, we'll just have to do that in
different, more virtual, ways.
