Post-op stuff. Except the last vid. Was so mad at what I *couldn’t* snatch that day but it was the first time I’d hit over 70kgs on the comp floor. Perspective is everything 🙃

Fizzing to get back in the box next week. Sorry to everyone who has had to endure post-op me. 😆

"You're a physio... you shouldn't support CrossFit."

I hear this more often than you'd think.

The truth is, CrossFit earned a reputation years ago for pushing people too hard, too fast, with too much weight and a lack of technique. In some gyms, that reputation was deserved. And in all honestly in the early days of my career as a physio I wasn't an advocate.

But CrossFit has evolved and so have my thoughts about, it thanks to the coaches at CrossFit0435.

Squats aren't dangerous.
Deadlifts aren't dangerous.
Olympic lifts aren't dangerous.
Lifting Heavy isn't dangerous.

But poor technique, inappropriate loading and bad coaching can be.

At its core, CrossFit is functional movement. It challenges strength, power, endurance, balance, coordination and resilience through constantly varied training. It exposes people to movements they actually use in everyday life, while creating a supportive community that keeps people coming back.

When coaching prioritises movement quality over ego, progress over perfection, and long-term health over short-term performance, CrossFit can be an incredibly effective training method. That's exactly why I support what CrossFit0435 is doing (any many other CrossFit gyms these days)

Their focus isn't on lifting the heaviest weight at any cost. It's on coaching technique, reinforcing good positions, scaling movements appropriately and helping people move well before moving more.

As a physio, I want people to be active. I want them to become stronger, more confident and more resilient. There's lots of ways to do this, and CrossFit is just one of them.

This comp was exactly what I needed. The pursuit changes us long before it rewards us. Proud of the fight 🫶🏼

So proud to be part of the team that supports this incredible athlete on the sideline, our biggest measure of success is giving it everything you’ve got and she defiantly did this at Torian Pro this weekend. We could all learn a thing or two about tipping in when things get hard from @cfjessie. Bring on the next big thing, we will be right by your side to do it all over again 👏👏👏

Fitness is hard when you start. Then you get fitter and push harder to make it harder and get fitter. So it’s still hard. Swipe for my very first Open workout in 2021. Some things never change! 😆
