I know that people rarely look at the bottom of a model but I love it when creators take the time to make custom bases. I was so thrilled with the base of this model from @cruel_creatures_press that I decided to start with it first.

Done with @thearmypainter speed paints and villany inks from @grimdark_compendium

Letters are using the glue layer method from @pictornox

A thrilling day of dungeon delving!
I'm loving this group.
I feel about D&D the way we're supposed to feel about church... a sense of belonging, community, growth, and a proximity to the gods, old and new.
Also got to have the new @oldnickwraithknight album playing to set the mood!

TR33 "Wood" The Warforged Druid 🤖🌳
Before awakening from a curse condemning him to servitude as a sentry for an evil wizard, Wood was among the countless Infantry of Eberron's great war. When, at last in control of his own destiny, Wood dedicated himself in service if the wilds of The Lost Plane. And when an evil arose to threaten those wilds, he would not stand idly by.

This Blood Eagle comes from @cruel_creatures_press. I wanted to do a swamp look on the base and applied some resin over it to make it look wet. The rust on the chains is ABT502 red ochre with marble dust to give the rust a chalky look. I'm very appreciate of the artists at @conclave_obscura who are as helpful as they are talented. A shout out to @grave.forge brushes which I recently acquired.

No Villainy Inks products were used on this mini.

This bad boy is a Karag Skulltaker from @cruel_creatures_press and printed by @naughtyvampiregods. I did the usual acrylic paints and then enamel washes. After the matte varnish I added some VMS ALKYD BINDERS WET FX to the blood.

I'm using techniques I leaned at @conclave_obscura. Check out their discord and say hello!

I bought this barrel mimic stl a little while ago from @cruel_creatures_press, finally got around to printing and painting it. I have a soft spot for mimics. They're just misunderstood creatures.

Final pictures of Alfie’s first mini of 2026.
This was painted for a competition by @cruel_creatures_press

Alfie went for a vibrant purple and green, picking out individual feathers, and finishing off with a snowy base.

I’m really impressed with what he achieved.
What do you think??

A heartfelt thank you to @cruel_creatures_press for the invitation to paint this creation of theirs alongside other wonderful artists.

My aim for this project was to emulate "Birds of Paradise" from Magic The Gathering. The reference image is the last photo. I feel like it came out close enough.

With having recently moved to Austria, I was without tools! I attempted all manner of cheap as chips brushes. None held their tips or hairs. Also, I found what must be the worst medium layer brush Games Workshop has ever produced. It's tip dissolved faster than wet tissue paper!

I ended up ordering the three @vallejocolors X @squidmarminiatures paint sets. I genuinely believe you can get any project done with those 24 paints. Tools-wise I bought a painting handle & Brush Set from @goldenmaple_official . To round out the kit I made a DIY wet pallete using supplies from @tedi_oesterreich

Anyhow, thanks for looking at it!

Alfie’s first finished mini of 2026.

The is his entry into the “Painters Challenge” by @cruel_creatures_press
He’s gone for a vibrant alternating purple and green scheme, which I think looks great. 🤩

He’s also gone with the winter base. I asked if he was copying me, but he said he was always going to do it. 😅
I get some proper pictures tomorrow.

What do you think? Any feedback for Alfie?

Just Oliver’s entry to go now….

Huge thank you to @cruel_creatures_press for inviting me to take part in their painting challenge. It genuinely meant a lot to be included, especially knowing there are so many incredibly skilled painters out there.

I definitely had my share of challenges and setbacks along the way (including a few battles with my FDM printer 😅), but I managed to pull it all together in the end.

I imagined this miniature as a forest guardian — using its green feathers and brown, trunk-like legs to blend seamlessly into the woods, making it almost impossible to spot among the trees.

Thanks again for the opportunity!
