Brighton Queer Social 🧡

If you wanna have a good time… Brighton Queer Social is at The Birdcage every Monday from 7pm 🫶

This is a space for all the queer communities in Brighton to come along.

What is it?
It's simple. It's a social that facilitates connection and conversation, with hosts to help you connect, a few games and food to make it a warm and welcoming experience.

If you are 18 or 80, just out or out for years.
If you are in a relationship or just out of one.
If you have lived in Brighton for years.
If you have just moved here and are trying to find your people.
If you are simply visiting the city.

What to expect…

Is it a dating event?
No it's not, but if a connection leads to that, amazing 🫶

Is it a hookup event?
No it is not.

Can I come alone?
We actively encourage you to come alone! Most people do, and our hosts will make sure you have someone to chat to from the moment you arrive.

Are you nervous?
Don't worry, lots of people feel the same. We are there to help you feel welcomed and not alone ❤️

Do I need to pay?
No, the event is free. To keep the socials sustainable there is a way to contribute, either as a one off payment or monthly.

Do I need to pay for food?
If it's your first time, the food is FREE! If you're returning and want to eat, there's the membership or a one off contribution of £5 (membership link in bio).

We encourage you to look at membership as it gives you a bar discount at The Birdcage, discounts across our other cities and of course free food EVERY week!

Are you looking for a hot, established lesbian club night? Well, @crushed.btn has a treat in store for you.

On 25 September, Brighton’s hottest lesbian night will celebrate its third birthday. Three years, roughly thirty events, and one unmistakable dent in the city’s queer nightlife map.

To mark the occasion, we sat down with the three founders behind it - Neave, Em and Liv - to talk about where it all started and what’s changed since 🌈

✋This will be a mask enforced event; masks will be provided with ear loops or other designs for comfort - if you bring your own wear FFP2 or better. There will be regular breaks during the film for you to take your mask off outside and have drinks. Please do not attend if you have any viral symptoms.

THE FILM:

6 people fall for each other and learn to live harmoniously together while navigating the hostility they receive from others and well as overcoming their own feelings of jealousy. Made in 1972, directed and co-written by Stephanie Rothman when b-movies had to have a fight scene, an explosion and someone topless and other than that you could do what you wanted and she chose polyamory! Group Marriage was radical in it's depiction of free love and support of gay rights at the time.

This film is rated X by the BBFC which is equivalent to an 18.

FUNDRAISING

Not to spoil a film 70s but it ends with an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and what better tangential excuse to support some direct action groups fighting for trans rights in the wake of legislative violence from our own Supreme Court

We had the privilege of shooting part of this year’s @brightonprideofficial film in the club upstairs.

Charles Street has been part of Brighton’s queer life for 25 years. That’s a lot of nights, memories and people who found each other there. We’re so grateful we got to capture a little bit of what made it so special.

It’s easy to think a night out is just a night out, until another queer space disappears… We need these spaces. GO TO THE GAY BAR 💚🌈
