Madurai-based 916 Studio is looking to raise funds as it builds its next phase around AI-powered microdramas and mobile-first entertainment. Founded in 2026 by Venkatesh Rajendran, the company produces both live-action and AI-generated microdramas. It says it has already produced seven titles and worked with platforms and companies including Zee, Sun Shorts and Story TV. Venkatesh brings more than 25 years of experience across technology, digital media and entertainment, with earlier ventures including Dot Com Infoway, Magzter and Galatta Media. 916 Studio is now exploring funding to develop its own AI microdrama production software, expand original content and build a dedicated OTT platform for short-form vertical entertainment. The longer-term plan is to combine production, technology and distribution under one platform, with content built in India for audiences here and overseas.
