What does it mean to stand strong on our own while finding beauty in togetherness?

In Four Solitudes, internationally acclaimed choreographer Crystal Pite explores love, connection and the delicate push and pull of human relationships through breathtaking movement set to Schubert, performed live by Memphis Symphony Orchestra pianist Adrienne Park.

It's just one of four extraordinary contemporary ballets featured in ORIGINS, October 23–25 at Playhouse on the Square. From the soulful music of Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack to a powerful work inspired by the Mississippi River, there's something for everyone.

Bring your favorite people and make memories together! Get FOUR tickets for the price of THREE with code 4PACK at checkout.

At this point in my life, I prefer my drama choreographed.

An evening of contemporary dance with @balletbc in Vancouver for INFINITY. Beautifully dramatic, emotionally intense, and thankfully none of it involved me.

The only kind of tension I’m making room for these days comes with a standing ovation.

“Crystal Pite’s Emergence, a beautifully crafted, mysterious, impressionistic piece that captures the hidden world of insects, and can also stand as a metaphor for human existence.” – The Globe and Mail

Hear directly from Crystal as she reflects on creating the acclaimed ballet, her relationship with the National Ballet and the idea of connection and collective movement that continue to drive the work 17 years later.
