Reflecting on MIO and we can’t get over all the inspiring voices that came to share with our participants. 👏🫶

The phenomenal Joe Mydell (MIO ‘84) kicked off MIO with a brilliant speech at our formal dinner, making another appearance to share his film on Ira Aldridge, The Black Tragedian.

We also had the fantastic Chris Sivertsen and Jon Boden lead our midsummer event in Bat Willow Meadow— thank you!

Additionally, we say a special thank you to Peter Kessler and Joe Wyver who introduced some amazing films to our students this summer!

BADA’s dean Ben Naylor, and talented faculty, Evelyn Miller, Tom McClane, Jonathan Broadbent, and Elliot Barnes-Worrell, took on the first masterclass: showcasing the professional scene rehearsal process!

BADA Alum Sideeq Heard (MIO ‘14) continued our brilliant lineup, sharing their experience as an American actor and director working in London— most recently directing the RSC’s Fat Ham.

The renowned Adjoa Andoh’s masterclass was truly inspiring as she performed Shakespeare scenes for our participants, providing insight not only on her own artistic interpretation but the history embedded in the works.

Adam Kantor, BADA alumn (MIO ‘06) and distinguished actor and singer, gave our students a stunning performance as well as sage advice on being an actor in musical theatre and broadway.

Finally, the outstanding Anne Bogart gave an unforgettable masterclass to our MIO participants, but also to our BADA studio members; discussing a wide range of topics including the differences between directing for theatre and for the opera, as well as the special connection between an actor and the audience!

MIO 2025 was truly an experience filled with exceptional teaching, insight, and learning from leading individuals in the theatre world today! ❤️
