Last night occupational therapy students had the chance to spend time connecting with the physical therapy and physician assistant students through a holiday mixer event.🎄 It was great to form connections across programs that all take place within St. Scholastica’s Health Science Center!

FOOD DRIVE UPDATE!
We are so overwhelmed by the amount of food donations that were brought in by all 3 programs.

We originally planned to bring the donations to The Chum but due to a change in availability we delivered 683 food items to the Duluth Salvation Army!

We are so proud of how OT, PT, and PA came together as one community. The way everyone came together for this food drive truly reflects the strength of our programs.

Results:
PT 2nd years: 90
PA: 107
PT 1st years: 149
OT: 337

Participants needed! Help us explore PT and PTA clinician's cognitive flexibility and LGBTQ+ competence.

Take the survey here: https://csscholastica.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3kLMWVKG7JP2f8a

Cognitive flexibility (CF), described as a person's willingness to be flexible, adapt to present situations, and develop self-efficacy, has been associated with better ability to emotionally regulate and provide more thorough care. CF has also been strongly linked to healthcare provider quality of life, compassion satisfaction, and better provider self efficacy, effective coping, and better overall patient care.

Identifying provider LGBTQ+ competence allows for identification of gaps in specific population knowledge, attitudes and behaviors which can lead to creation of specific resources aimed at filling these gaps.

The aim of our study is to explore PT and PTA clinician's cognitive flexibility and LGBTQ+ competence, with the secondary aim to identify factors that contribute to both.

Staff Spotlight 🔦

I have never been good about talking about myself, but here we go. I have been practicing as a clinician (PT, DPT) for 5+ years in mostly an orthopedic and sports medicine settings. I am also currently the clinic director at EDPT Folsom location which has been serving this community for over 20+ years.

I graduated from a Bachelor’s PT program from Adventist Medical Center and College in the Philippines back in 2017. I then completed my 1 year transitional DPT program from @stscholastica in 2021. I plan to pursue a specialty in orthopedics (OCS) in the near future.

Special interests include - ACL rehab, treatment of overhead athletes, post-op rotator cuff rehab, and treatment after orthobiologic injections (PRP). One of my long term goals in my career is to publish a paper in orthopedic journals.

When I am not working I love to play and watch anything basketball related. I would love to eventually take up golf but that time will come!
