This past Monday was National Beer Lovers Day and we’re loving the new Fall Fest Vienna Lager that’s now in the @csuramskeller!

The @csu_fermentation team of students and faculty have been hard at work all summer making this delicious brew just in time for fall! 🍂🍻 Several people raise pint glasses filled with amber beer in a toast inside a brewery taproom. A bar counter and beer taps are visible in the background.

Fermented veggies, spice, and everything nice — who wants some Kimchi? 🥬🌶️🙋

Earlier this month, our @csu_fshn Fermentation and Food Science program teamed up with @csu.apacc for a hands‑on kimchi making workshop!

Events like these help us spice up the learning experience while cultivating community and connection. Shout out to everyone who joined and thank you to Dr. John Wilson for leading the class 🤝 CSU Food Science and Human Nutrition student stirs seasoned chili paste in a large metal bowl during a kimchi‑making workshop.

🍺 Happy National Beer Day!

In the Fermentation & Food Science Innovation Hub and Brew Kitchen, almost every day is beer day. From breaking down and analyzing different styles to brewing their own, our fermentation students get truly hands‑on with the science behind what’s in the glass.

Curious to taste what our seniors have been creating? Join us at the Iron Brew Competition on May 8 — more details coming soon. A group stands inside an industrial brewery as one person explains stainless steel brewing equipment from a yellow platform.

🍻 The @csu_fermentation science students brewed up a blast at Iron Brew 2026!

From baked‑goods‑inspired beers to bright weather and even brighter minds, this year’s event was a true celebration of student creativity, fermentation science, and community. Thanks to our amazing brewing partners, faculty mentors, and everyone who came out to support student innovation. 💛💚

Thanks to our industry partners: @newbelgium_foco, @odellbrewingfortcollins, @peculierbrewco , and @horsedragonbrew 🍻😀 A group of eight people stand closely together outdoors under a vendor tent, wearing matching orange event T‑shirts. Several people lift a large gold metal keg overhead while others pose around it holding plastic drink cups. Trees, grass, and a tent banner with a QR code appear in the background.

Team Peculier won FIRST PLACE at the CSU Iron Brew! We loved working with the @csu_fermentation science students on our “baked goods” inspired beer, Flip n’ Sip, which is a Pineapple Upside Down Cake sour 🍍🍒

Thank you to everyone who came by to support us at the event. Your support means the world to us! And a big thank you to the @csu_artandarthistory, @csu_fshn and @csuhealthhumansci departments for the wonderful collaboration!

You can find, and taste, this beer for yourself at both our Windsor and Fort Collins locations on tap and in 4-packs to-go!! Come on in and give it a try… Upside Down has never tasted so right 😋🍻

On this week’s episode of The Next 150, we’re in the Five Points neighborhood visiting with CSU alumnus Norman “Norm” Harris ‘99 at @SpangalangBrewery in one of Denver’s most historic areas.

A second-generation Ram and fifth-generation Five Points native, Norm shares how transferring to CSU shaped his confidence and direction and how a 20-year career at Janus led to a bold pivot toward community leadership. He also discusses his work as executive director of the @FivePointsBID and president of Denver’s Juneteenth Music Festival — one of the largest in the country.

The conversation explores revitalizing Welton Street into a “modernized cultural marketplace,” reintroducing jazz to a new generation and collaborating with CSU’s College of Health and Human Sciences’ Fermentation and Food Science program to create “The Art of Darkness” stout. Norm also gives his advice for students on finding passion, building strong habits and staying focused.
