POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last night, @painproclinics Coal Harbour took a significant step beyond traditional clinical care. As part of the @capturephotofest events, we were honored to host an Artist Talk with Stefano Gulmanelli to officially inaugurate the painPRO NeuroArts Project.

Why NeuroArts?
While Neuroaesthetics explores the neurophysiology behind how we appreciate beauty, NeuroArts puts that science into practice. By enriching the clinical environment with aesthetic experiences, we can positively influence the brain, body, and behavior to promote genuine well-being.
During the evening, we explored the transformative efforts and research of @susanmagsamen (Your Brain on Art) and Daisy Fancourt (Art Cure), and discussed the vital role of Social Prescribing. It is inspiring to see local leadership in this space from:
@drmelissalem and the @bcparksfdn 🌲
as well as the @vanartgallery 's Art of Wellbeing Lab, led by co-CEO Sirish Rao @sirishr and @odetowonder Paula Toledo 🖼️.

The Inaugural Artist: Stefano Gulmanelli
Stefano shared an inspiring exploration of his and Arianna Dagnino's epic journey across Canada. His perspective - informed by his global experience as a journalist, photographer, and academic - shed light on the profound relationship between landscape and identity. The "distinctly Canadian" stories of generosity and pride that emerged from their trek provided a perfect backdrop for our discussion on how art connects us to our environment and ourselves.

Our Commitment
This project is a direct reflection of our Core Values at painPRO:
✨ Inspire Change
✨ Change Lives
✨ Be Open-Minded
✨ Pay It Forward

I am incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us. We look forward to the next opportunity to share inspiring works and meaningful experiences that enhance the health of our community.

Working with dancers is a real privilege. The trust they give you isn’t something they hand out easily, and being able to help them — both in the clinic and backstage — is incredibly rewarding.

Last night, physiotherapist Chris Tierney and I ran a workshop for our painPRO colleagues, all about the kinds of lower body injuries dancers can face. We talked about what it’s like managing these injuries, whether it's during a performance or back in the clinic.

Dancers are artists who do seriously athletic things — over and over again — pushing themselves to the brink, and sometimes past, risking overuse or acute injuries. But they’re relentless.

I love working with them because they’re so inspiring. No matter how hard it is, they make it look effortless.

If you want to see what I mean, check out Ballet BC’s shows from May 8–10, and don't miss Arts Umbrella’s Season Finale from May 22–24.
Go watch something that lifts you up — now, more than ever!
